Trudeau’s “winter vanity project”: Cost of Canada 150 ice rink balloons to $8.1M

David MenziesMission Specialist

Justin Trudeau’sCanada 150 winter vanity project– namely, that temporary ice rink on Parliament Hill, has already cost taxpayers $5.6 million.

It was supposed to wrap up this month but instead, the feds will spend another $2.5 million to keep the rink operating through the month of February.

Somehow they figured out a way to squander almost $90,000 PER DAY to keep an outdoor skating rink open.

How’s it even possible that the price of that rink has now ballooned to $8.1 million?

I don’t know anything about rink management, but I have a hunch the daily operating costs of an outdoor rink should NOT be equivalent to the price of a Porsche Cayenne.

In the west we had a tragic ammonia leak at an indoor rink that killed three men. the rink was empty at the time. Many thanks to the Calgary Flames for stepping up and paying the $200,000 to repair the ammonia system. The canal next door why didnt the OTTAWA senators step up and fund the rink? Guess that would not allow for $8,000,000 to given to special friends.

Lloyd Nolan, good one! I’m not sure if the government backpedaled on this rule or not….originally, no figure skates allowed, just hockey skates.

Diana Pestaj, I agree. It’s a disgrace! Trudeau sends billions to other countries & paid a convicted terrrorist, a soldier for Al-qaeda, but, fights our vets in court as the government claims not to have the money to properly care for them!!!!

I want to know When our Prime Minister is going to apologize to the Canadian people for blaming us for the hijab hoax? I want to know when the police are going to re open the investigation to find out who put this young Muslim girl up to this! We want some answers. If these hoaxes are not caught and the perps prosecuted they will continue to happen, with the express purpose of making Canadians look like they hate Muslims. The will bring in m103 to quell any criticism of Islam and to control us. The police have a duty to us to get to the bottom of this hoax and report all details to the public, so our reputation can be cleared.
Is the police going to ignore us as well? If so under who’s direction? Who is deciding that we do not have a right to know the details of the truth.
Police, uphold the law, lay charges and do your job.

…and yes Justin’s rink is another showy taxpayer rip off. That’s our boy!

What the hell? Is the water certified Halal before they freeze it?

Follow the money backwards on that rink from Construction to maintenance and you will know how much the kickback is worth.!!

Imagine all the people sleeping on the street that could have been fed and kept warm for $8.1 Million.

For that kind of money they could have covered it, put in a refrigeration unit and bought a Zamboni.

This is just the icing on the cake. When the ice begins to melt, the trickle down will end up somewhere else. The Trudeau Foundation, perhaps?

- It would be news if the government ever did anything within budget & on time. The whole Canada 150 farce has been an exercise in corruption & cronyism.

Rick Mercer sneered at those Canadians who raised eyebrows over spending 5.0 on a rink for celebrating Canada’s 150.
Now that it hit 8.1M who is sneering at regular Canadians now.
The idea of an ice rink at Parliament Hill was a pretty good idea I think. But common…..5M now 8.1M and it ain’t over. Bet when the costs come it will exceed >10M.
Trudeau has way too many things just getting ready to blow up. He escaped to Western Canada and is in Edmonton tonight. Hopefully someone will ask him when he plans to take a trip to BC and talk to Horgan about pipeline delays.
Because when another #MeToo moment hits Parliament Hill (which is being forecasted as early as tomorrow) Trudeau and his Liberal feminists won’t have time to go to the washroom.

Seems like Trudeau forgot the Rideau Canal, the longest skating rink, is just minutes away!
Another example of government excess and waste….8.1 million surely would be better spent ensuring aboriginal Canadians have access to potable water.

The other rule is, you must book tickets online two days in advance for your 40 minute skate on Parliament Hill.

Originally, the government insisted skaters could not take pictures while on the ice….lots of backlash from the public…the rule was dropped.

It’s just another way to steal from the taxpayers. The liberals are professional thieves.

… It is a perfect icon of Trudeau’s contempt for all Canadians.
