Trudeau saddles taxpayers with $4.5B price tag for Trans Mountain failure

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

Justin Trudeau plans to spend $4.5B to buy Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline, but that isn’t the end of the spending.

After the initial buy-out of the existing Trans Mountain line, the federal government says it will take over the $7.4B pipeline expansion this summer while the sale is being finalized.

And that still isn't the end of it. Alberta premier, Rachel Notley, is offering to backstop the federal government from cost overruns with a $2B indemnity that will be converted to an equity stake in the project after construction is finished.

The federal government is also creating another Crown Corporation and another government bureaucracy to oversee Trans Mountain construction and operations.

It’s like Petro-Canada 2.0, but with gender neutral porta-potties on all the worksites!

Today, I’ll tell you why nationalizing the pipeline is the worst possible outcome for Canada.

This outcome is a damning indictment of Trudeau’s handling of the economy and Canada’s natural resources. And it gives Notley and Trudeau the tool by which to blackmail us in the future.

Conservatives should always be against the nationalization of private-sector industry. The end never justifies the means.

Taxpayers are making a $4.5B initial donation to Trudeau’s next election campaign, and at the end of it all, we may never see a pipeline.

The new pipeline will NEVER be built. Bet the farm on that. This nefarious deal is the start of NEP 2.0. Prosperity for the west is anathema for the Lieberals. Trudeau hates the west as much as his step father Pierre did. The crown corporation is a perfect disguise to ensure the pipeline will never be built. Another Canadian kick in the nuts.

What the hey…….It’s only taxpayer monies and Lieberals are sure to get rich(er) from this fiasco! That is the underlying reasoning, if one can call it that, for this decision by Jihadi Justin.

I’ve lost count, how many times now has Trudeau blamed Harper for his Liberal mistakes to date?

I’d consider protesting against the pipeline now just to screw Trudeau and the Butt Boy.

Trudeau and his gang of nuts backed themselves into their own corner. He thought he could sneak this one past the environmentalists who voted for him. Afterall, the pipeline right of way was already in place, it would simply mean expanding the existing KML pipeline. Should be a no brainer. We thought so too.

Then due to Trudeau not having the manhood to kick the activists into left field, he dicked around, boasting how “The pipeline will get built”, (x1000,000) Meanwhile pissing off the very people who voted him him. So KML gave him a deadline, seeing it wasn’t going to change, pulled the plug. Which would have meant KML would have stalled indefinitely. Maybe until a Conservative government was elected.

His only option to save face was to come up with a deal. So KML executives, being experts in the energy industry and Trudeau being an expert in teaching drama to elementary students; reach a deal using taxpayers hard earned money. Amazing !

So nothing has changed except Trudeau thinks he at least has control of the last hope of saving more embarrassment. The fun is just beginning. Tzeporah Berman and Horgan and Weaver have more influence over the activists than Trudeau. Plus the activists are way more pissed at Trudeau than they ever were at KML.

Near as I can figure this project is between 16B and 20B of our taxes at the moment.
4.5 for existing pipe and assets,
9.1B to build the expansion, (KML was planning to do it for 7.4B)
2.1B financial assurances,
1.5B Ocean Protection Plan
Add that the millions upon millions of wasted government time and resources, debating this thing.

ALL because Trudeau ducked the issue from day one. ‘ALLKML ever wanted was for the government to do their job.

This deal ended up to be all about saving the Liberals from total embarrassment and holding onto liberal votes. KML knew it. He’s still going to have to protect the workers, get the permits, and actually build the friggin pipeline.

This ain’t over folks. Trudeau and Butts, McKenna, Morneau and the invisible energy minister are in for a huge fight. A year before the 2019 election. How nice is that!

Why does Justin Trudeau hate Canadians so much? Does money and power really do this to leaders, even in the west? He doesn’t serve Canadians. Canadians either serve him or are discarded. I’m sure they are watching how the totalitarian governments in the UK are subjugating their ‘subjects’. I think it emboldens our government. Which is why this case in the UK with Tommy Robinson is so important. If the Brits get away with illegally picking citizens off the street and sending them down for 13 months or more (?) a scary precedent will be set there, and our totalitarian wannabe’s will surely find a way to mirror that authoritarian behaviour, to get rid of ‘trouble makers’.

When a government loses its ‘give a fk’ is when you know your nation has just entered dangerous territory. This brazen government will do whatever it damn well pleases. They must be confident they will have enough foreign votes, overseas money and rigging in place to win the next election without even many of those who put him in last time.
OR he’s going to shut the whole thing down.
OR he’s going to drag the thing out until he gets in and then sell it to the Chinese.
The potential for horrific results for Canada are a list too long to post.

With the mega mosque in Fort McMurray, then the pipeline probably bought by China at a bargain price later on, what could go wrong? Add a carbon tax on top of it, we will have paid for our total demise. Stupid voters,,,,

Turdrow has just bought his way into ABs oil patch by owning the trans border tansport. Oil is worthless unless you can get it to market. This is just the start of Ottawa setting up a pipeline monopoly.

Like Truedope 1, Truedope 2 is doing the same as his father.
Truedope 1 bought Petro Fina for twice the price what it was worth to turn it into Petro Canada then privaticed it for half of what it cost
Truedope 2 bought KM for twice the price of what it’s worth and Canadians are going to have pay for it. You dumb Liberal voters are getting what you voted for. SO ENJOY PAYING FOR IT ha ha ha.

In looking back on this boondoggle it is evident that this was the plan all along. Given his basic admiration for China’s basic dictatorship it is surprising. PM Do-nothing could have removed the protestors in a trice if he had wanted to (even his old man whom I despised dealt with the FLQ). But he didn’t want to. He wanted to use the stalemate as an excuse to nationalize the pipeline. Apparently he also a level of admiration for Hugo Chavez.

Maybe Trudeau will give the pipeline to the First Nations as reparation for stealing their land.
commented 2018-05-29 22:06:25 -0400
As a matter of fact, most of those on the political Left love and admire brutal dictator and try to emulate them whenever possible, so Trudeau maneuvering the pipeline to be nationalized would be right in line with his screwed up ideology.

Harold said, " … I hope I’m wrong on this one. "

Yea, me too, but I doubt it. Knowing Trudeau’s dictator like actions, his love of China’s “basic dictatorship”, his love of Fidel Castro, and his heavy socialist leanings, I think you are close to the mark.
commented 2018-05-29 21:30:06 -0400
This is a very worrying sign. Clearly throughout history, we’ve seen Governments “manufacture” a problem only to provide the (predetermined) solution to it – a solution to nationalize something. I feel the ground getting more slippery under our feet.

The old cliche, “One sparrow does not make a summer” is true but I fear after one sparrow come many more, and that is the start of the end. I hope I’m wrong on this one.

This pipeline pipe dream deal is a ploy to make the Liberals look good while they rob us and our descendants. With typical political short-sightedness, Turdeau , is only concerned in regaining his position in 2019. Worst of all, millenials just want free stuff. Liberals count on idiots to vote for them and Canada has a surplus of those.
commented 2018-05-29 20:59:29 -0400
Is it possible that turdo liberals have bought KM pipeline so that it could be transferred to a state owned chinese entity at later date, which would’ve not been possible if owned by Kinder-Morgan.

How this is in compliance with Section 92A of the Canadian Constitution and Section 121 of the BNA Act, is beyond me. Peter Lougheed fought Pierre Trudeau hard for the Constitutional Amendment 92A. British Columbia did not have the Constitutional right to block Alberta’s exports, and Trudeau did not have the Constitutional right to nationalize an Albertan pipeline filled with Alberta’s oil.
