Trudeau abandons war on terror, will end airstrikes against ISIS

Rebel Staff

And so it begins.

Justin Trudeau has confirmed he will withdraw Canadian CF-18 fighter jets from the international coalition air strikes against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Prime Minister-delegate Trudeau informed U.S. President Barack Obama of his decision to end Canada’s aerial engagement in the region shortly after leading his Liberal Party to victory in Monday’s general election.

In his first telephone conversation with President Obama, Trudeau informed the president that he would make good on his campaign pledge to withdraw Canadian jets from theatre.

“I committed that we would continue to engage in a responsible way that understands how important Canada has a role to play in the fight against ISIL, but he [Barack Obama] understands the commitments I’ve made around ending the combat mission,” Trudeau told reporters in Ottawa on Tuesday.

He has not yet provided a timescale for the withdrawal, however.

“We will be moving forward with our campaign commitments in a responsible fashion,” Trudeau remarked. “We want to ensure the transition is done in an orderly fashion.”

The ex-high school drama teacher has promised to provide humanitarian aid in Iraq and Syria and have the Canadian Armed Forces engage in training missions, not bombing operations.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest stated on Tuesday morning that outgoing Prime Minister Stephen Harper can also expect a call from Obama in the near future, according to the CBC.

“Our bilateral relationship has enhanced the security and prosperity of the American people and we certainly are appreciative of Prime Minister Harper’s efforts to strengthen that relationship, and we look forward to building on that kind of progress when Mr. Trudeau takes over the Prime Minister’s Office.”

Since the Fall of 2014, Canadian aircraft involved in the Canadian Armed Forces' contribution to the Middle East Stabilization Force (MESF), designated Operation Impact, have conducted 1637 sorties.

Canada's six deployed CF-18 Hornet fighter aircraft, one CC-150T Polaris aerial refuelling aircraft, two CP-140M Aurora surveillance aircraft and accompanying support elements have struck ISIS at its core. ISIS has reportedly lost the ability to operate freely in 25 to 30 per cent of populated areas of Iraqi territory it previously controlled.

I was never for sending our troops to the sandbox…I have no illusions….there are no good guys there….we have no real friends there…..let’s face it….the sandbox is about oil ….not noble cause…we ignore atrocities committed where there is no oil.

Unfortunately oil cannot simply be ignored….apart from being a necessity of life it is strategic power. Now the conflict has ALL of our enemies pitted against each other….I say let them beat the crap out of each other….then beat the crap out of the “winner” before he recovers…….:-)

Justin is into boxing….maybe he’l hire me as a policy advisor.
commented 2015-10-21 18:46:22 -0400
Deborah, you are correct. The lefties will definitely spin Justin’s majority as valid @ 39.43% when they kept telling us that Harper’s 39.62% was not. They certainly have twisted logic.

Jimmy said, “Peter, Who did they vote for?”

What an odd question. They voted for the other parties, of course.
commented 2015-10-21 18:14:08 -0400
Let the Russians take out ISIS.
commented 2015-10-21 18:06:53 -0400
Why are his pupils always dilated?
I just hope it is only one term, with a majority it could be a very long and destructive 4 years.
I don’t know about what Obama ‘understands’, but a Republican in the White House won’t be happy with Canada pulling out.

Like father, like son.

Jason Bertucci – I lumped them together, but you are right the left fooled many, and it shows in the numbers. But the Libs officially only received 39.47% of the vote.
commented 2015-10-21 17:44:57 -0400
To be fair, Deborah, the combined left did get 60% of the votes. Trudeau is an infant. He plans to bring the military home to defend the baby seals. I mean, it makes a grown man cry.
commented 2015-10-21 17:28:46 -0400
Peter Netterville – even though the numbers don’t lie, the lefty’s and their minions, will be working overtime, to try and convince us, that the 39.47% of the vote that they did receive, is actually larger than the 60.53% of votes that they didn’t receive! This is how the lefty spin doctors work!
commented 2015-10-21 17:26:58 -0400
Peter,

Who did they vote for?
commented 2015-10-21 17:21:24 -0400
Jimmy said, " … since he decimated Harper in the election. "

60.53% of the electorate did NOT vote for Trudeau.
commented 2015-10-21 17:15:29 -0400
Count the times he says “Uh” in the next 4years. Each one will cost you $1.00

Jimmy,
I give Trudeau eighteen months, before he has his first nervous breakdown.
commented 2015-10-21 17:07:01 -0400
Jimmy said, “hat they would be willing to give all that up…because the CBC told them to?”

It’s far more than the CBC that have been deceiving the people. Most of the media in Canada is left wing and has been covering for Justin’s gaffs and BS by not reporting on it or by apologizing for him. They have also been attacking Harper on anything and everything, making up crap, lying.

But then Jimmy, I know that you know all this, but ignore it because they were promoting your lover, Justin.
commented 2015-10-21 17:04:45 -0400
Trudeau’s Muslim string pullers spoke, Trudeau did as he was told. There’s a good boy Justin. I’m sure Mommy will be proud of you.
commented 2015-10-21 16:55:46 -0400
Keith,

Whatever the case – Harper is out and Trudeau is in and as a Canadian – I am among millions of people who couldn’t be happier.

Don’t be a sore loser – you had ten years of Harper. Now it’s our turn – Canada has spoken.
commented 2015-10-21 16:52:32 -0400
Deborah,

Do you really think that if Canadians were living such amazing and prosperous lives and proudly thought that Canada was wonderful under the Harper government – that they would be willing to give all that up…because the CBC told them to?
commented 2015-10-21 16:51:51 -0400
Da Silva,
Trudeau did not win this election. the MSM and Dick Heads like you, won this election. I will give you odds on, before Trudeaus term is over, You will be crying in your Beer.
commented 2015-10-21 16:36:22 -0400
Decimated? That’s a real stretch – I think winning short of 100-seats is pretty damn fine, when you consider that we have an elected PM, who was implanted illegally, by those who should be arrested for interfering in a democratic election. Just think how many seats that PM Harper would have received, if the voters weren’t being deceived.

Glenn Radford, you are too funny…Fluffy?
commented 2015-10-21 15:59:21 -0400
Charles,

Well since my freedoms won’t be taken away from me, since you live in a pathetic fear mongering bubble, you won’t have to fight for anyone. Canada will be just fine.

Thank you Bravo. I agree with you 100%. Thank you for the comments.

Timmy, where are you? Jimmy is off his meds again.
commented 2015-10-21 15:54:13 -0400
Terry,

How dare Trudeau keep his election promises, which Canadians obviously supported – since he decimated Harper in the election.

Doesn’t Trudeau know that he supposed to promise things and then do the opposite?

“Plus do you honestly believe any of those eastern fucks will pick up a weapon and defend this country. Not a fucking chance.”

Charles Moulton, there are a few of us living in the east that will pick up a weapon to defend this country. Our voices are small in number but we are here.

Assad is no saint but at least his government didn’t persecute Christians and allowed women to vote unlike what these “moderate rebels” would allow if they ever took power. I’ll take an Assad government in Syria over a bunch of stone age thinking radical muslim terrorists which ISIS and these “moderate rebels” both are.
commented 2015-10-21 15:33:59 -0400
Right on Terry Rudden! Some people on TheRebel seem to have forgotten how a democracy is supposed to operate. They’re upset that a newly elected politician kept his campaign promise! lmao

Fluffy’s first act as PM; help strengthen ISIS. Magnificent!
commented 2015-10-21 15:31:26 -0400
I know most will not like this.

I support this “get out” decision and always wanted the Canadians to NOT work with the Americans on this operations.

Canadians are working with the Americans who are also attempting to over throw Assad – instead of supporting Assad – who strongly protected the Christian enclaves when I was there. More and more Europeans are beginning to see Assad as a potential ally because of this protection he provided to Christians.

I also know the UN team that went in to see if Assad used chemical weapons in Damascus – despite the media and the BS they spew – the inspection team proved it was western backed rebels that did this. No media on that discovery!

Since then both have probably used chemicals – but it is now true war – brutal – winner take all. Slammer style – and it is not Marquis of Queensbury Rules – it is medieval rules. Slammer style.

It is my opinion the rebels – known as FSA will carry out a biblical proportions slaughter if they win – and you can be damned certain they DO NOT care about civilian casualties – in fact the more the better – makes for good “anti Assad” media.

Support for Assad is becoming popular in Europe as people see him now as a person who could actually stop ISIS and protect the few Christians who are remaining in Syria

The Kurds are not our friends despite popular thinking in Canada – cut off the flow of arms, ammo and cash and their treatment of us will go down hill asap. They have already killed one Canadian in a “not so friendly fire” incident and not much was done about it.

Turkey is not our friend either despite being a NATO member – they are fighting with the KURDS – our supposed ally. They are also a slammer (islamic) country – and islam = evil.

I lived in Syria for more than two years and I barely understand it – not many Canadians do understand it all – but the media still feeds you folks bullshit and most lefties lap it up as truth when it is not.

Americans and their allies are backing the wrong team in my opinion.

They COULD back Assad and SHOULD back Assad AND fight ISIS if they chose to – but they will not.

This is a Hussein oblabla and kerry and biden and mccain take down. It is nothing more than a US of A take down – when they could be focusing on killing ISIS and saving Syria – no matter – the Russians will do it now.

I also support tossing the F-35 – it is single engine – not suitable for long range arctic work – it needs two engines. I lost an engine near Resolute bay in 1996 flying the Hornet – if it had been a single engine I would have left it up there in the arctic – and perhaps stayed there myself.

Instead I refuelled with the tanker and flew home on the other engine.

How many of YOU would want to fly across the Atlantic on a regular basis in a single engine airplane?

Do not bother I already know the answer.

Trudope is an idiot – but these two decisions I back.

Now – the one I do not is trudope wanting to mentor the rebels – that is BS -we should be KILLING them.
commented 2015-10-21 15:29:36 -0400
I always laugh when the left says we are sending troops to train men in the middle east how to fight /kill.
Our troops will be set up as target practice for the terrorists. Is that what Trudumb means by training.
commented 2015-10-21 15:28:44 -0400
This man is so pathetic, he starts now! He is going to fulfill the Islamic promises? I really had to think, about this statement. I thought he would stay the course realizing that this is Canada’s security. Man was I ever wrong. He couldn’t give a shit about Canada. We are so screwed, we have to separate from Canada it is very obvious the fucking crazies have taken over. Plus do you honestly believe any of those eastern fucks will pick up a weapon and defend this country. Not a fucking chance. They have people like the Jimmies out there. Living on their computer being all tough and not contributing one little thing. So this is for the Jimmies out there. When all your freedoms are taken from you, and you are looking up at me with my weapon in my hand fighting for your fucked up rights. Just remember it will be the western guys and women like me doing it.
