First Amendment in action: Pro- and anti-Trump protesters in front of the White House

David MenziesMission Specialist

Signs, signs, everywhere a sign... whether you agree, disagree or you’re indifferent to the message being conveyed, it’s always heartwarming to see Americans making full use of their First Amendment Rights - right outside the White House.

In front of the White House, I spoke to two men holding very different signs.

One man signalling that “Hate won't make America great” gave me his opinions on immigration and open borders, and the other man wore a #MAGA hat demonstrating with a “Build The Wall” sign.

Somalia isn’t a hotbed for terrorism? Maybe he should go and visit. Like the reporter who went to show how great it is then died in the hotel explosion with 200 other people

Marty is reasonable about a few things, but he is wrong on Trump and wrong about Somalia. Somalia a hotbed for terrorists.
Two normal guys with different views, expressing them calmly and peacefully. The way Canadians used to be able to.

Marty, Marty, Marty. Sounds like you’re actually a Republican and don’t even know it. You need to listen to what President Trump says. You may realize you’re agreeing with him.

Gotta see this – wild rapper guy. Proves you can’t judge a book by it’s cover.

To advocate open borders you have to be a masochist.
I will bet that these two protesters were two of the nicest ones that David has ever met.

I think both men stated their case well, I sense that the anti-Trump protestor is Jewish and may have his views influenced by the media and a concensus in his community. Somalia is home soil for Al Shebab and Yemen (where the Jewish population is pretty much purged ) is a hotbed of Salafist rebellion. A little better information would go a long way.

Great post David, shows what reasoned discussion can be.

It is NOT hateful for a country to a) have borders and b) protect and defend those borders from people who want to enter illegally. Open borders advocates demonstrate a type of mental illness associated with virtue signalling.

Old white man seems like he just wants to be offended for something to do with a lot of ignorance spurred on by CNN…….and maybe some white guilt mixed in. He knows nothing when he starts saying that Somalia isn’t a hot bed for radical muslims. He sounds like a closet Conservative.
Kemp, a true free mind and patriot to his country….no guilt in his soul for thinking and feeling how he feels.
