Trump’s right: Cut off public funding for universities that censor faculty, students

Rebel Staff

If you’re a classical liberal or a libertarian like me, you probably already believe that universities shouldn’t get public funding.

I personally believe that our universities should be privately owned institutions.

If you don’t agree, would you change your mind if I told you that those same publicly funded universities also silence students and professors on campus?

Donald Trump wouldn’t. After the chaos at UC Berkeley when Milo Yiannopoulos tried to speak, Trump tweeted:

“If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view - NO FEDERAL FUNDS?”

What happened to Milo happens to almost every non-leftist speaker invited to a university.

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms is an organization that monitors free speech and expression on university campuses.

Each year, they publish a list of universities, then give them an overall letter grade based on how well the administration and student union upholds free speech on campus.

In 2014 and 2015, Canadian universities earned 41 Fs, and only 8 As.

And, of course, 2016 wasn't much better.

WATCH as I review the grades they handed out to top Canadian universities.

Recently, Professor Jordan Peterson was denied a bid for a research grant at the University of Toronto. Many are speculating that this was due to his stance on gender pronouns.

I have a better idea for you, University of Toronto (the same university that received an F for your anti-free speech policies and practices.) How about we deny you and other schools funding for trying to censor your professors and students?

Deborah Graupner Trump is doing exactly the right thing , cutting off other peoples money, it is awesome on so many levels. It also shows how the socialists are dependent on capitalism and it shows their hypocritical greed.

Not only universities, sadly, but public elementary and secondary schools too.
No freedom of debate and thought…….just the neo-Marxist, feminist, LGBTQ horseshit, social justice warrior agenda, human-caused climate change, Darwinist, anti-JudeoChristian, ideologically flawed “multiculturalist” race obsessed line. Western Society being sabotaged from within by ignorant and barbaric anti-rational savagery.

I have to take the time to compliment Mr. Fayza on his integrity. He is stating his beliefs, and at the possible cost of a placement in grad studies. Maybe these past years in university has decided him that more years is his last desire, but I think taking the stand is truly admirable.

Andrew if this is fine then i guess churches should get public funding as well , or would you have a persecution complex over that?

Andrew Stephenson why the hell should the public pay for someone to be silenced? And unless you are totally ignorant , proof of this is everywhere. Love how wimps like you demonize others who stand up for reason and freedom. You deserve to benefit from neither.

Private universities absolutely!
Then more kids would go into trades and be gainfully employed and those highly motivated, would attend higher learning. If they were private, there would be choice and commie academics would no longer run universities. Keep saying that to the end Andrew Stephenson, we know you must be depressed these days with the looming end of the Marxist reign in sight. We’ll tolerate it because we don’t try to silence people, but you should ask yourself why you insist on staying with the losing team.

Andrew, it is not a “complex” when it is demonstrable provably occurring. Anyway, it is not “right wing” per se unless you are suggesting free speech is a “right wing” belief.

Jay, that’s because they are no longer places of learning but for socialist indoctrination.

Yawn, more right wing persecution complex.

Funding is a construct.
