You probably heard on the weekend that Donald Trump put out tweets accusing Barack Obama of wiretapping Trump Towers during the campaign. Ever since, the media have been on a full court press to prove Trump wrong.
They’ve called it false, they’ve called it baseless, unfounded. They’ve called it outright lies.
And while they’ve been doing this, they’ve ignored their own reporting on this very issue.
The question isn’t what evidence does Trump have for this claim, the question is why did he wait so long to tweet about it. The media have been reporting on this in mainstream and other outlets for months - including using the very word wiretapped.
Watch as I look at Trump’s tweet and show you how the media reported regularly and vigorously about Trump being under surveillance until Trump tweeted about it, at which point they called it a lie.
Is what I’m laying out here conclusive evidence that would hold up in court? No.
Is there enough that a Congressional committee should be looking at this? Absolutely.
Aside from that though, what is so telling is that the mainstream media has it in for Trump. So much, that they’ll ignore their own reporting on this very file.
The fact is major outlets on the left reported on the FISA courts, the warrant, the wiretapping, the multi-agency surveillance and revelled in it until they needed to ignore it to bash Trump as peddling conspiracy theories.
If a warrant was issued, maybe there is something to the allegations about connections to the Russians and Trump’s campaign. You would think the media would be all over that, right?
No, better to bash Trump. Better to say he’s selling fake news when really, he’s reacting to their news.
