Two biggest problems with Canada’s “think-alike” Media Party

David MenziesMission Specialist

On Friday’s special year end episode of Rebel Roundup, Ezra Levant joined me to take an in-depth look at the dying craft of journalism.

Watch as Ezra explains that while media bias is certainly a problem, there are larger problems that come as a result of the incestuous nature of Canada’s media party.

I do wonder what Conrad Black thinks of The National Post these days, his creation in 1998…. It went “mainstream left” going into the 2015 election under the Postmedia management and Jonathan Kay driving the editorial policy… With only a few glimmers of stories acknowledging that all’s NOT well in Ottawa, it runs with the pack… I guess that’s the price you pay if you want your reporters patted on the bum at the local Press Club beer nights…

Laurence Ho got that right. Funny how those concerned people will never pay more form their own pocket or put forth any effort towards what they claim to hold sacred, it is always someone elses job to pay for it or do all the heavy lifting.

Ron, you’re welcome!

Tammie thanks for that rendition of The House of the Rising Sun. I like the image where Soros has Trudeau as a puppet. So true!

Ha, it’s the same thing that is happening down south. A bunch of people are not happy with President Trump’s tax cut starting with the corporations and so someone just tell them: Go write a cheque to the government in the amount that you think you should have been taxed. What a bunch of stupid people led by a hopeless MSN. That said, Trump 2020 and Nikki 2024!!!

Ron, hard to imagine how many more distraction articles MacLeans and others will publish, it’s so absurd!
You’re right, our ridiculous mainstream media deserves much ridicule.

Tammie Putinski-Zandbelt—Your MacLeans article on Trudeau’s socks is so maddening, a person has to start laughing. I went back to look at the date as that type of Journalism was popular two years ago when he got elected. When Trudeau’s House of Cards falls down, we will be around to laugh at our ridiculous media.

I bet Ezra does a short story on that important Canadian story.

It’s a brutally cold winter so far and thousands of Ontarians can’t afford to heat their homes ,some being forced out by outrageous electric bills. And what’s the big story on the front page of the Toronto Star. The plight of some Syrian refugee family.
Stop worrying about the entire planet and look after our own first.

FRANK, POST YOUR PICTURE!!!!

I want to see what “stupid” looks like.
commented 2018-01-02 10:05:31 -0500
Socks – really MacLeans! ….Ethics Commissioner had just released her report confirming the PM is guilty on four, count them, four counts of breaching anti-corruption/bribery laws. Trudeau is the only PM to carry this shameful and illegal first in Canadian history.

Also, LPC had just quietly announced the budget will be balanced by 2045!!!!!
MacLeans doing a puff piece on Trudeau’s ridiculous socks is just plain stupid.

Geez Frankie, you are taking a beating tonight bud. When Gord Downie died I told my wife and she said who is that? I said he was the lead singer for the band Tragically Hip. My wife just shrugged as she was not familiar with this band. The point is Frankie, this band and Gord Downie were not that popular throughout the country nor were they as talented as the media and Trudeau would like everyone to believe. Gord had ties to indigenous people so he was supporting Trudeau’s priorities and remember the media frenzy when Trudeau attended the final Hip concert in Kingston. It was a special stop on the selfie tour and Gord was just a prop.

Frank are you buying the BS about Iran that the left wing media is spouting? I imagine you are since you have no grasp of reality.
commented 2018-01-02 01:03:09 -0500
The BIGGEST problem is that reality hits home and the MSM lies are exposed for those who are able to see.
commented 2018-01-02 01:02:02 -0500
Frank not everyone considered him an icon, the group was not that good.
commented 2018-01-02 01:01:07 -0500
Frank actually they give credit when there is a reason, only a hypocrite like yourself would deny that.
Now go to your BS batshit sites that put down Trump with lies that sheep like you call fact checking.
commented 2018-01-02 00:58:59 -0500
Michael Chase well said, with the exception that their are some honest used car sellers, unlike the MSM who has no honest reporters.

Tammie excellent link, keep posting that Steeper33 link over and again, hopefully people will take note.

This channel uploads LPC disasters in Parliament and Committee meetings. You get to hear all the lies as they are spoken. Frank, your beloved PM is a criminal, as are many members of his caucus.

Moving opinion to the frondt page is something The Star started years ago. I think you’re both right – each of the items mentioned is a problem. I recall in the pre-internet days, The Star, in the comment section, would print 6 opinions, 5 agreeing with their position, and one, intended to represent the right, but was in fact someone (assuming they didn’t actually write it themselves) that was off the rails. The Star also engages in subliminal tactics, which they back off from for a time when I called them on it.

Frank, I think Al Peterson covered it very well. Ditto!

I will add, Geez Louise, I don’t recall a Rebel tribute to another “Canadian icon” when he died, so, why have one for Gord Downie?!!
Trudeau couldn’t muster up any tears for Leonard Cohen in public, while the State broadcaster was around to film it…

Just before Christmas, Trudeau quietly let the cat out of the bag concerning the budget….now it should be balanced by 2045!!!!
WTF….
commented 2018-01-01 18:20:58 -0500
Rick, that’s right. Obviously with The Rebel’s budget they can’t cover all events like the local flower show. So they cover what the MSM won’t or what they lie about or what they bury. I’m sure that if The Rebel had the budget of the CBC they could do a whole lot more. But I hope they won’t sell their souls to the Government. I’d love to see Andrew Scheer promulgate a policy of shutting down the CBC. I won’t hold my breath.

Under control of Lucifer as are Canada’s politicians. Little wonder alternative news sources are springing up!

Frank Hohimer—I believe you have a good sense of humor, it is the rest of your qualities that scare me.
Seriously, how does a lefty think NAFTA will go?
commented 2018-01-01 15:40:49 -0500
A leftist moonbat “useful idiot” talking about batshit, how appropriate. Again, always good for comic relief.

FRANK HOHIMER
If Trudeau did something great by every standard in Canada hypothetically speaking,
-—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
Aye, there’s the rub. It is very hypothetical since he has never done anything great yet. The self absorbed elitist is incapable of it.

Hell, The Rebel wasn’t even willing to acknowledge the death of a Canadian icon, because he was friends with Trudeau.
-————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
The only reason Downie was worshipped by the leftists is because he was a friend of Trudeau’s. His music did nothing for me but then music, like all art, is in the eye of the beholder. Hardly worthy of the time and ink spilled on the story. It was not really a national story of any significance.
-—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

..people explain to me the difference between The Rebel’s bias and the bias that every single news source on the planet has.
-—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
This one is quite simple, Frank. The Rebel has not pretended to be un-biased. It has proclaimed that it is conservative. As the only conservative national media voice in the country it is the underdog as so many of your ilk are proud to proclaim.
The MSM for the most part proclaims itself as the “real media” and as neutral when it obviously is not.

What the Rebel does is says that its world view coheres with reality better than the wishful thinking of the leftist/statist/ marxist/globalist hacks at the CBC et al. For the most part I agree with them.

If “ifs” and “buts” were candies and nuts we’d all have a Merry Christmas.

Tammie Putinski-Zandbelt,

I actually watched your Amazing Polly video. She sounds like a conspiracy theory kook. How do you find these YouTube batshit crazy losers?
commented 2018-01-01 15:19:43 -0500
Um, how is the The Rebel any different? Instead of a left biased, there is a right bias here. It’s completely hypocritical.

If Trudeau did something great by every standard in Canada hypothetically speaking, The Rebel would completely ignore it and certainly not give Trudeau any credit, because that goes against the liberals are evil agenda.

Hell, The Rebel wasn’t even willing to acknowledge the death of a Canadian icon, because he was friends with Trudeau.

So if someone here is willing to be reasonable and rational as opposed to extreme right crazy, people explain to me the difference between The Rebel’s bias and the bias that every single news source on the planet has. Or can you concede that there is no difference and that Ezra is a hypocrite here – regardless of your support for him and The Rebel.
