What if Obama had read “The Art of the Deal”?

David MenziesMission Specialist

Donald Trump hasn’t even taken up residence in the White House, but already the President-elect is saving American jobs.

Carrier Corp. won’t be eliminating some 800 jobs in Indianapolis despite having previously revealed a plan to move those jobs to Mexico.

It's true the company will receive $7 million in tax credits from Indiana over the next ten years but in a global economy, every jurisdiction has politicians willing to play "Let’s Make A Deal" to attract and retain investment.

There was something else behind their decision to stay. It had to do with parent company United Technologies having federal defence contracts worth $5.6 billion last year alone!

Maybe Trump’s people gently reminded the company about these multi-billion-dollar contracts?

This is what’s known in business as using leverage, a tactic Trump knows how to apply, unlike many in the public sector.

Barack Obama was a community organizer, which explains why he didn’t try it when Carrier first announced the move to Mexico.

Too bad for the past eight years, as plants were shuttered and jobs were shipped abroad, nobody had the foresight to buy President Obama a book explaining how to negotiate.

Maybe a book like, “The Art of the Deal”, penned by someone whose name escapes me at the moment...

Drew, regarding Russian hacking, you can see on FOX News that REPUBLICANS and Democrats are BOTH convinced that Russia helped Trump win election.
commented 2016-12-13 10:22:48 -0500
Drew. Saying things are “terrible” or “worse” is meaningless. Only numbers show the facts. None of what you said about the condition of America means anything if you just say “it’s bad” or “terrible”.

A couple of things right off the top: The US department of Health and Human Services states that an estimated 20 million people have GAINED health insurance coverage from 2010 to 2016. This is a fact.

Also, the US Dept. of Labor shows that unemployment is at 4.6%. The LOWEST in 10 years. That is a fact.

And, yes. Like I said before, Trump did say that he could shoot someone and not loose voters. You said “and he did not say that , he said Hillary could.” Thank you for acknowledging that.

Finally, the “Left” is not whining about Russia hacking. The CIA has presented a report to the Senate. The CIA is not ’Left". 17 federal intelligence agencies have concluded that Russia is behind the hacking. Both Republicans AND Democrats are now investigating the election tampering. Russia is NOT a friend to America and any interference by them must be taken seriously and considered an act of war.

Michael he said he could shoot someone and not lose voters, the ad used something else.
commented 2016-12-13 01:49:55 -0500
Michael the Hillary ad showed him at a podium saying it , sorry but that is a fact.
And you have not presented any facts.
And the US has crushing debt and more mass shootings, more illegals killing people, a weakened military, race relations are worse than ever, less people have health insurance, unemployment is terrible, blacks lives have gotten worse under Obama, the IRS is being used to attack politically , certain people go to jail for doing what Hillary did and she does not. many states are going downhill , New York city is so deep in debt it is ridiculous, the media is mostly controlled.
Now the left is whining about Russia hacking when they were happy to interfere in Canadian and Israeli elections.

Obama was too busy reading Hillary Clinton’s latest book:

“The Art of the STEAL”.

Drew, have you ever been to America? It’s far from ruined. What about America looks ruined to you?

I don’t care about any candidate because there are no more candidates. The election is over.

I care because I am committed to facts. And the fact is that Donald Trump lies. Facts are facts. Facts are not opinions.

Trump did say that he could shoot someone in Times Square. He to told Fox News on Jan. 26 that it was a joke. Yes, he did say it.

commented 2016-12-12 12:37:56 -0500
Micheal i care about the country , and he did not say that , he said Hillary could. And why do you only care about one candidate? And Obama has ruined the country he was in power in those 8 years. I support him for the good of our country as well, now go be a good useful idiot. DOW KEEPS ON A RISING LMAO!

Drew, it’s really funny that someone from the middle of nowhere Edmonton, Canada cares soooo much about politics down in America. It seems really weird that you are so emotionally invested in Trump from Edmonton. How much do you get paid to promote Trump?
commented 2016-12-12 10:47:01 -0500
Yes Drew. Trump did say that he could shoot somebody in Times Square on Jan. 23rd in Sioux City Iowa. There is clear video footage of him saying it. You can view it on many different on-line sources.

The unemployment rate is now at 4.9% under Obama. That is the lowest it has been in 8 years.

Ford CEO Mark Fields says that Ford NEVER planned to move its U.S. operations to Mexico, or even shift future investment outside the country. Mark Fields says that Trump lied about this saying: “It’s really unfortunate when politics get in the way of the facts,”. You can look this up too.

I don’t care what Hillary did or did not do. Completely irrelevant. I am only talking about Trump and his compulsive lying.

Art of the deal. Trump on his 5th bankruptcy… not sure it’s a good idea.
commented 2016-12-12 02:11:32 -0500
Michael you ever see the Hillary ad claiming Trump said he could shoot someone and get away with it? Well that was a lie , he said Hillary could. ANOTHER HILLARY LINE OF BS!
commented 2016-12-12 02:10:32 -0500
Michael tell me all of Obamas huge job accomplishments. Or tell me how Hillary would have improved the economy? Obama has the US in a huge mess.
commented 2016-12-12 02:09:39 -0500
Michael the MSM lies and we all know it.
commented 2016-12-12 02:09:10 -0500
Michael Trump said he would tax Fords and other cars made in Mexico if they moved , and sorry he did not lie.
commented 2016-12-12 02:08:20 -0500
Michael i thought it was 400?
And sorry Ford never said that. And no he is not a serial liar, Hillary is , and it is proven. Try some reality.
commented 2016-12-11 21:29:18 -0500
Drew. Carrier told both ABC New sand CNN Money on Friday Dec. 2 that the 300 jobs in question were never leaving. Trump also lied about him keeping the Ford plant in America. Ford says that was a lie. That deal was made in 2011. He himself says that he lies. In Art of the Deal Donald Trump said that hyperbole a very effective form of promotion. If you fact check his Tweets you will see that he a serial liar.
commented 2016-12-11 21:04:46 -0500
Bill Elder well said, he has done more for the good of the country already than Obama did in 8 years. And the whiney trolls are spreading their manure as they have nothing else to use.
commented 2016-12-11 21:03:15 -0500
Michael he does not lie , he is helping the US , not hurting it, the left are the damn liars. And when did Carrier say that? Or did you pull that out of your ass like usual Gordo?
And about lies, how about that Hillary eh? Now go believe the liars that said he assaulted them like a good sheep. TOO BAD < HILLARY LOST!!!!!!! WAAAAH WAAAAAH WAAAAH!
commented 2016-12-11 19:32:33 -0500
George Dyer. Carrier says that the 400 jobs you speak of were never in danger of leaving. I think that Trump’s affinity for the “Truthful Hyperbole” makes it very hard for him to ever tell the truth. He is a compulsive liar.
commented 2016-12-11 17:59:55 -0500
MICHAEL GREATHOUSE I believe, at the time, our best information was approximately 700 union jobs plus approximately 400 non-union jobs (engineering, clerical, R&D, etc.). The union guy on television has been speaking the truth and nothing but the truth, but not the whole truth, and is referencing only the union jobs, a number that the mean stream media are also only too happy to use. The numbers I’ve quoted may have been revised since then so I cannot vouch for their current accuracy.

Carole Mellin – so what are you implying with an arguably stupid accusation…. that Trump is unsucessful in markets and Obama is??

I’m seeing a president elect who is 40 days from power, who has done more for the American economy in 30 days than Obumbles has in 8 years – get fxxing real Beatch

Trump didn’t even read “The Art of the Deal” and he sure didn’t write it. As the ghostwriter of Trump’s bestselling 1987 book The Art of the Deal,Tony Schwartz did more than anyone to create the businessman’s public persona. In it he translated Trump’s coarse ramblings into charming straight talk. “It’s been horrifying,” he says. “In the nearly 30 years after the book was published, the main thing I felt was, I want to be as far away from this man as I can, but I didn’t feel I created Frankenstein, because he was a real estate developer and reality television star. Who cared? It wasn’t that consequential to the world.”
commented 2016-12-11 16:44:27 -0500
I wonder why he lied and said he saved 1100 jobs?
commented 2016-12-11 15:46:04 -0500
Obama never, and still has contempt for the average American. His time in office has only been to push a socialistic agenda leading to communism in the U.S.!
commented 2016-12-11 15:03:42 -0500
I don’t think it was ever, or will ever be on his reading list it was written by a white man and he wasn’t a Marxist – non Marxist reading is verboten at commie martyrs university when you are there to become a professional communist.

Justin Trudeau already is the worst PM in Canadian history, his Sir Name alone puts him in that category.
