UBC Free Speech Club battles to bring “far-right” Ben Shapiro to campus (Guest: Angelo Isidorou)

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

The Free Speech Club at the University of British Columbia is trying to bring Ben Shapiro to speak at the school.

Predictably, this means the anti-speech busy body professional student types who have nothing better to do, are trying to ban Shapiro from speaking at UBC.

The lefty crybabies have started an organized complaint campaign that isn’t working under the school’s existing rules regarding outside speakers on campus, so the whiners are doing the next best thing; trying to change the rules to make them more censorious.

Today, in an interview I recorded before I took off on my fact finding trip to Israel, I speak with Angelo Isidorou, President of the UBC Free Speech Club.

Join us as we discuss the organized effort to shut down Ben Shapiro’s talk, the sorry state of free speech on Canadian university campuses and some small reasons for hope as the tide may be turning.

I really enjoyed listening to this wonderfully lucid and articulate young man. He gives me some hope for the future of this broken nation.

“We have to get him gone. Don’t you just love these unelected parasites, they are insidious and damn hard to get rid of.”

Absolutely, but -
“McGuinty’s former close advisor Gerald Butts has led the trek of a bevy of civil servants from Queen’s Park in Toronto to Parliament Hill in Ottawa to work for the new Trudeau government, which may augur poorly for the future of federal policymaking.” That is the quote from the link I posted and that is the elephant in the room that no one politician wants to touch. All governmental bureaucrats are unelected. After Trudeau Jr. is gone his faithful will still be at their bureaucratic jobs as if nothing happened. Trudeau Sr. stacked federal positions, provincial positions, and so on. Over the years they set the rules/redefined the laws behind closed doors and the public found out long after the fact when nothing could be done about it if they found out at all. It will continue on until a thorough top to bottom flush is done and all jobs vacated and then filled again with people who actually have no political party ties or affiliations. It will take someone with a major spine to flush the toilet that has become the bloated public sector levels of bureaucracy. Currently the opposition politicians Canada has tiptoe around the elephant and its poo.

“….she is way more stupid than she was last week!”
Tammie, hilarious.

Hyacinth, Butts goes a long way back for sure. That was serious destruction for Ontario and now for the country. We have to get him gone. Don’t you just love these unelected parasites, they are insidious and damn hard to get rid of. We have to find a way to avoid this sort of wildcard threat in future. We have to expose any future leaders ‘intimates’, and make sure they are not the brains in the relationship. Basically we have to elect fully formed adults who stand on their own two feet without having to have puppet masters. I wonder if that can exist in this day and age in Canadian politics?

I really hope Ben Shapiro comes to Canada. He should meet with Justin. Wouldn’t that be fun.

“… Canadians are fed up with his totalitarian ideologyt, unelected a$$hole should have gotten the boot long ago!! …”

Ontario started circling the toilet when McGuinty was premiere and Gerald Butts was his unelected advisor. Now he is Trudeau’s unelected advisor. Not difficult to connect the dots to see the future of Canada.

The left have no real arguments, they substitute feelings for facts, so they seek censorship instead. The right don’t want to censor the left at all, we want them to keep talking. The more the left talks the more they expose themselves for the fanatical nut jobs they are.

Forgot to post this below. The Minister of AirMiles sees this as a big win….she is way more stupid than she was last week!

Liza, Butts is using brownshirt tactics and Canadians are fed up with his totalitarian ideologyt, unelected a$$hole should have gotten the boot long ago!!
More parody accounts are springing up in protest. It was very clear in the description of the Twitter account it was meant as a parody.

I wish I could get to the coast to watch the fireworks if Ben gets to speak. Lotus land could use a little Ben Shapiro.

Re: Parody accounts/free speech/government interference
When I read your post Tammie, I thought Butts using Brett Wilson that way would not go down well with Brett. I don’t agree with everything Brett says, but he is his own man, and a critical thinker, unlike the clowns who are running this country I immediately went to Bretts twitter feed and sure enough he isn’t impressed.
https://twitter.com/wbrettwilson.

It never ceases to amaze me how unaware Butts is of what the pulse of this country really reflects. He won’t be able to herd Canadians the way he thinks he will be able to, with just a little more control, and a little more and a little more. His totalitarian pipe dream will fail.

Bravo Z.B. how heartening to hear employers are sending that important message, and as a result the best man for the job won.

Great interview with Angelo Isidorou. UBC Administration would be wise not to entertain the childish demands of the folks who are incapable of civil discourse and try to de-platform speakers like Ben Shapiro.

Bravo Zulu, IMO your buddy saved the company a lot of headaches by refusing to accept the cv of the candidate UBC churned out.

Anyone who disagrees with freedom of speech, is someone who is afraid of the truth. When people like this, gang up and disrupt free speech, they just reduce themselves to the level of an illiterate mob. Unfortunately this scenario is becoming the norm for the younger generation, their Marxist educators must be proud.

A true comment but I will add one thing.

Anyone who disagree with telling the truth also wants to rule you physically as well as mentally.

I have seen it many times.

Mobs are dangerous unless you are heavily armed and not afraid to use that weaponry – in some parts of the world it will soon come to that.

Be safe.

UBC?

A typical useless POS university.

My buddy in Grande Prairie region actually refused to hire a UBC grad not long ago – why?

Simply because it was a UBC grad – to quote him (and he told this to the applicant) – “UBC eh? I would never hire someone who went to that university. So we are not accepting your resume”.

It was for a position that starts at right around $85K, Not a huge job but one that would pay the bills.

The student was bearded, had an earring in his left ear, a fancy tattoo on his left hand and talked like a lispy queer anyways as my buddy told me later.

He eventually hired an Indian kid from one of the regional reservations – that “kid” is a man, works like one and is finishing a degree after hours via a combination of correspondence and night school. One has to admire that kind of determination. Apparently a very nice person to boot.

So toss those grads from the queer and lefty schools – they breed weak people.

I’m glad to hear Angelo Isidorou thinks the tide is turning on this nonsense.
