Last night, a violent mob of so-called "anti-fascists" descended upon the Salvation Army building in Lewisham East to stop a hustings from taking place.
The protest was called as a response to the candidacy of Anne Marie Waters. The local fascist "anti-fascist" rent-a-mob had failed to crash Waters’ national campaign weekend events in the constituency, and then chose to descend en-masse to the hustings event to violently protest, shut the event down, and hurt Waters and her supporters.
Make no mistake, this was supported by the Labour Party. It’s not a secret. The leaflets which advertised the event proudly boasted of their support from Lewisham TUC, Lewisham West & Penge Labour Party, and Lewisham NEU.
Take a look at the leaflet below and see for yourself:
Labour’s candidate, Janet Daby, boycotted the hustings. At first she said it was a result of a prior commitment in her diary, but when organisers offered her a different date, she admitted she did not want to share a platform with Anne Marie Waters of the For Britain Movement. The Conservative Party candidate Ross Archer also refused to turn up, claiming he was too busy.
I have consulted For Britain, Libertarian, and UKIP sources for information about how the event went down, and have spoken on the telephone to witnesses who experienced it first-hand.
When the day arrived, For Britain candidate Anne Marie waters was forced to hire private security. Fearing that the police wouldn’t do a good job of policing the fascist feral mob outside the venue, Waters’ security team assessed the situation, looked for safe entry points, and liaised with the police. This proved futile, as police simply told the candidate that they would not attend the venue until a problem arised. Instead, they had teams patrolling the local area.
At 6pm, the mob turned up with pickets, and soon there were more than 150 people crammed into the front yard of the Salvation Army property.
Signs reading "No to racism," "Stop Racist Waters" and "No to For Britain" could be seen; a Muslim woman with a megaphone was loudly exclaiming that Anne Marie Waters had called for women to be attacked; and words like "SCUM!" and "SHAME!" were thrown at anybody who tried to attend the venue.
The person tried to both verbally and physically attack us last night, whilst we were just peacefully standing there watching. The police just stood there and did nothing. This is modern day ‘democracy’ for you. pic.twitter.com/seVYjEM0EZ— Anish Patel 🇬🇧 🔱 (@Anish_Patel3107) June 13, 2018
There appeared to be one goal for this mob of democracy-hating losers:
They intended to use violence to shut down a democratic event.
Eighty-three-year-old Doreen, a local constituent, came to the hustings in the hope of asking candidates questions, but she wasn’t given that opportunity.
Owing to security fears, Waters waited past 7pm to attend the event. Her security drove her to the venue shortly after 7pm, when they received a phone call from the police claiming the event had been shut down, and that Waters should not attend for her own safety.
Attendees inside the venue inform me that the police told the event organisers that Anne Marie had cancelled. This isn’t true. It took the police half an hour or more before deciding to shut down the event, owing to the disruption and violence by the far-left outside.
Did the police lie to stop Anne Marie Waters attending the event?
At the very least it seems police didn’t do their job properly. One arrest was made, but people on the ground tell me this person was released just minutes later. You can see a picture of this person below.
I have been given multiple stories from witnesses about the violence at the event. It came exclusively, according to these accounts, from the far-left protestors, and not from the innocent attendees who simply wanted to hear the candidates debate.
One witness, John, told me:
“I'd never seen so much hate in people’s eyes. Their faces were contorted, they were like zombies. I tried to reason with them but they just shouted at me. There was assault after assault, and the police just stood by and said nothing.”
Another witness, Edward, said:
“I spoke to the police, and asked them ‘If this isn’t a breach of the peace, then what is?’ They were relentless, violent, and didn’t want a single person to get into the event. They pushed an old man with a walking stick to the ground, and spat in a young girl’s face.”
Anne Marie Waters was prevented from attending on security grounds, after the police claimed the event had been shut down. This was shortly after 7pm before the speeches had begun – but this live stream of the event shows that the event went ahead and was cancelled only after all the candidates were given an opportunity to speak.
The War Kettle was also attacked, as the Antifa mob tried to break his camera equipment. That is visible in the footage below.
Interestingly, the press has been mostly silent on this. The local paper The News Shopper reported on the story, but it has been completely ignored by the national press.
In my years in politics, I have never seen a response like this at a hustings. Even with real far right parties, I have never seen anything quite like this. It is something so terrible, and such a huge attack on our democratic process, that the national papers should be interested.
Breitbart and Westmonster have covered the story, although interestingly they appear to have taken the line that this was an anti-UKIP protest. This is demonstrably untrue.
Footage from the event shows UKIP candidate David Kurten entering the hustings with relative ease, while "STOP RACIST WATERS" signs are visible behind him.

Protestors were not after him, and only heckled him during his speech once they realised the For Britain leader couldn’t make it.
I have questions for the police. This event was not controlled, and the police made zero effort to manage the crowds in a way that would allow the event to be held peacefully.
I want to know how many arrests have been made – and if none, why?
I want to know why the police ignored communication from Anne Marie Waters’ security team, and didn’t have a presence at the venu before the protests began.
And I want to know why the police seem to have lied to Waters’ security team and said the event had been shut down, when it hadn’t.
I also have questions for the Labour Party and Janet Daby.
I want to know if Janet Daby is proud of her supporters violently shutting down the democratic process.
I also want to know why the Labour Party is happy to take votes from ethnic minority communities they have treated like children for decades, but is unwilling to answer questions from voters, from all backgrounds, about their appalling track record in Lewisham over the last 26 years.
