In its first full year of operation, Britain’s modern day slavery hotline, Unseen, received thousands of phone calls and was able to identify almost 5,000 potential victims who were being trafficked and abused, and exploited in brothels, construction sites, nail salons, and car washes.
Britain has a huge problem with modern day slavery, and it seems to me that the politicians aren’t really doing enough about it. Legislation was passed in 2015 to deal with this, but still there is no sufficient support for the victims of this awful crime, and seemingly nothing has been done to tackle the illegal entry of young, trafficked children. Why aren’t we at the borders attempting to take down the kingpins?
Why are there still so many modern slaves in Britain? I think the politicians lack the political will to solve it.
