New proposals are being examined by the Sentencing Council for England and Wales, which suggest that people should face up to six years in prison for writing comments online that "target people" based on religion or gender.
What a load of nonsense.
First off, we know that people are talking about ideologies, and not targeting individual, innocent people.
Secondly, nobody deserves a prison sentence for expressing disagreement with ideologies.
But by August, we’ll know whether we need to pack overnight bags or not. The British government really wants to crack down on people who say the wrong thing, and who do so consistently.
