UPDATE: Bureaucrats “fret” over Rebel viewers' charitable donation to military families

David MenziesMission Specialist

Viewers may recall that around this time last year, we started a fund-raising drive for soldiers and their families at Camp Borden north of Toronto after being tipped off about a story in the Borden Citizen entitled “Seasonal Sharing Basket Campaign.”

Initially we thought soldiers and their families after already giving so much, were now giving to Christmas hampers for families in need, but no.

The fundraising initiative wasn’t to help strangers at the homeless shelter, but rather, for CFB soldiers who are so poor they can’t afford to feed their own families.

Justin Trudeau, the same man who gave $10.5M to convicted terrorist Omar Khadr, pays our soldiers so little that they’re forced to ask for... charity?

That’s when The Rebel Media, with the help of generous viewers, set out to raise $10,000 for the CFB Borden food hamper, and as always you came through, donating MORE than $15,000!

But a funny thing happened on the way to CFB Borden. What was meant to be a feel-good photo-op of the cheque delivery, turned into the opposite when the money was rejected.

We had no intention of keeping your generous donations, so we sought out another military charity and found an excellent charity called Canada Company.

They accepted our donation and then on the way back to Rebel HQ, it seems Canada Company inexplicably suffered some form of buyer’s remorse. They too rejected our cheque and also asked that we destroy the videotaped cheque presentation!

Puzzled and perplexed, we sought answers by filing a freedom of information request and now we know that when it comes to little ol’ Rebel raising cash for our soldiers, the bureaucrats at the Department of National Defence seem consumed with fear and paranoia.

Watch as I show you what we found in over 100 pages of transcripts of strategy sessions by DND bureaucrats who, like Batman trying to dispose of a bomb, were beside themselves looking for a way to handle YOUR act of generosity for our beloved soldiers.

Please visit our petition again at

Sign it and tell the Trudeau Liberals that it is not acceptable to cut 8-figure cheques to convicted terrorists while our patriotic soldiers must rely on food hampers.

We’re still working on getting your generous donations to a good veterans charity, despite Justin’s interference, so stay tuned for further announcements, and thank you again for all your generous support.

Good Day, David Thanks for the update. I agree with the comments suggesting the Legion. Another organisation to consider is the Veterans Transition Network in British Columbia.

I live in a Military town and do not see any hardship amongst those wearing uniform. I’ve not seen anyone driving a beater yet through the Tims or Starbucks. May be a geographical thing as I’m on the west coast and before anyone flames me, I’m a staunch Conservative and Military supporter but I’m just not seeing the hardship locally.

Agreed, give it to a Legion, they will know where it’s most needed.

We need to charter a fleet of buses, wear yellow vests and personally hand deliver hampers door to door with food, drink, and give each home an envelope of cash to buy presents with.

If it wasn’t for a dozen military charities throughout Canada our vets wouldn’t have anything.

Soy Boy Trugrope would rather give money to Muslim terrorists than the people who risked their lives for Canada . This is criminal!!!!

Menzies, Simply go to the largest Legion in Toronto, see the President and he would be happy to give it to Head Office, explaining that The Rebel donated it to the his Legion to help veterans.

Here’s a question: can the point made in one of the first messages he showed there, about the fundraising goals already in place apparently already being met, be proven or disproven? If disproven, it shouldn’t be too hard to put some major egg on someone’s face. Denying charity because of political issues, so military families get to go without for fear of some media outlet outing the military on how cheap it is. Shouldn’t be too hard to turn that into a headline.

Suggestion: instead of going thru whatever head office/base command/whatever just use social media. Publicly ask to hear from any family member of anyone who lives on that base to contact you and accept the cheque, with them responsible for distributing the funds accordingly. The can organize amongst themselves how to deal with it, and the brass doesn’t have to know one damn thing about it, officially. Publicize it, with the identity of whomever accepts the cheque, and maybe use the opportunity to show how the military families are forced to resort to sneaking around behind the brass’s backs just to accept a little honest charity, because Trudeau’s a paranoid hyper-political asshole. And the Rebel can still push Trudeau on military family funding.

Just a small remark David: I find the names given to the Rebel’s petitions sometimes are questionable. I’d personally prefer a bit more class.

What an absolute ass Trudeau is. He and his bureaucrats hate anything to do with the military. We saw that with Dad Trudeau and now his evil fopdoodle child is doing exactly what his dad programmed him to do.

Stephen, what you have posted is all very true and very despicable but the bigger issue is that the military brass is ashamed (whether by the media, by the Liberals, or whomever) to accept charity from The Rebel and its viewers.

It is that shaming to accept these funds that is the true problem.

What is the source of that shame?
Do they truly believe the CBC screaming that The Rebel is “far right”, what ever that means?
Will the military brass lose what little funding they have left if they accept it?
Whom are they afraid of being shamed by should they accept the cheque?

Dumber than a rock Baby Doc Justin was quite capable of finding $41 million to give to Afghanistan to pay its veterans, yet tells our veterans that the cupboard is bare.

Trudeau found $45 million for the Clinton Foundation when no one else would still give to it. He found $15 million to give to the Aga Kahn because, well, he (Kahn) is a billionaire. He found $50 million to give to the PA when the US stopped funding it. Now we (Canadian taxpayers) are funding $2 billion for public housing in India but nothing for Canada’s homeless.

For our idiot PM to find funds for our veterans and troops, well, tears running down his face is all they will get.

Justin inherited his mother’s brains and Fidel’s looks and politics. How sad for us.
