Mexican asylum claims are at record levels since the Liberal government lifted visa requirements on December 1st, 2016.
According to new data from the Immigration and Refugee Board, claims are already at 241 in just the first three months of this year as compared to a total of 241 in all of 2016.
From 2005 to 2008, 25% of all asylum seekers were from Mexico and in 2009 alone, 9,511 claims were processed. The following year after implementing the visa requirement, the number of claims dropped to 1,349.
Public servants warned the Liberals time and again that there were security risks in lifting the requirement and that a lot of these asylum seekers were fake refugees looking to exploit our system. Processing these fake claims also came at a very high cost to Canadian taxpayers.
Watch as I show you the math both in social and fiscal costs that the Liberal government ignored.
There’s a reason Donald Trump wants to build a wall - too many criminals and bad people are taking advantage of the system. And now Trudeau and the Liberals are willing to put Canadians in harm’s way over a lesson that’s already been learned.
In the real world, bad people exist and they’ll opportunistically take advantage of any situation that will result in a favourable outcome for themselves.
