UPDATE: Notley NDP’s “free” lightbulb fiasco — Ecofitt didn’t tender lowest bid

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

The saga of the NDP’s taxpayer funded “free” light bulb fiasco continues.

This time, the NDP were forced to admit that that the Ontario based company they gave the “free light bulbs and shower heads” contract to was not the lowest bidder.

Environment Minister Shannon Phillips has always said that choosing an out of province company was about saving money.

But WATCH to see Phillips try to avoid answering Wildrose MLA Don MacIntyre question about the bid process.

One or two Alberta companies were passed over by the NDP in favor of a green company from Ontario (all while business insolvencies are on the rise in Alberta.)

If the NDP are trying to jumpstart the economy when 200,000 Albertans are out of work and Calgary unemployment is hovering around 9 percent, they should have gone with an Alberta company.

Or better yet, give people back their own money, and send these lightbulb merchants back to Ontario.

@ Don MacDonald

Yes, the majority of the charges on the Ontario electricity bill is administrative. I expect the Alberta power will will be the same once wicked witch Notley has put her “Green Plan” in place. And she will do like Wynne did in Ontario and commit Alberta to massively expensive contracts over a decade or two that will have ridiculously high cancellation fees in the billions. The Alberta NDP really need to be removed from office before they completely destroy Alberta

These jackasses will blow the wad with their idiotic ideas. What the hell it’s not their money right?Remember the wicked witch of Gontario most likely gave them some help.

Deborah, Well, that certainly explains a lot! Thanks for that enlightenment.

One serious topic that has been neglected is electricity use and its cost. In Ontario , actual electricity cost represents less than 20% of a power bill. One family was building a house and had one single electrical outlet on site to use while building the house. The monthly usage on one bill was $6 but the total bill was $68 dollars.
Following Notley’s lead and drinking her Kool-Aid may reduce your electricity consumption a few percent but the added costs from their screw up with the Alberta power companies will see your hydro costs jump exponentially . This light bulb scheme is nothing more than smoke and mirrors . Replace everything in your house and your utility bills will still go up – guaranteed.

Sally – Shannon Phillips is.

Remember that when the NDP were elected , it was a surprise to many including themselves. A review of their backgrounds from their own websites showed that as far as business goes , two were self employed consultants and one owned a yoga studio . The rest are teachers, union activists, social workers and the occasional village idiot like Deb Drever from Bowness, Calgary. These idiots didn’t have the experience to run a food truck. So they brought in approx. 8 old NDP’ers from Bob Rae’s past NDP administration to be A.D.‘s – Assistant Deputy Ministers. These Ontario knobs fly in Monday morning and fly home Friday night. They would have been the one’s to convince Nothead to use an Ontario company. Coupled with the fact the NDP realize that all business in Alberta are Conservative in nature , they would have no problem using any company other than an Alberta company.

You can see she’s deliberately ignoring the question, and instead trying to deflect, because she knows this is horrible optics. Follow the money, Sheila, I’ll guarantee that there’s a link to Ecofitt and someone either currently in the NDP government, or formerly in the government. We never really did hear why Brian Topp left as Notley’s COS, did we? My money says that Topp is somehow affiliated with Ecofitt.

Deborah, are you joking or is Rachel Notley really a self professed Wiccan witch?

Don MacIntyre is simply the best! What a great fighter for Alberta he is!
I think you’re onto something there Henry Reardon. One would have to think there is a connection ($).
An Alberta company should have been chosen hands down for this project even if they were not the lowest cost. This light bulb, shower head incentive the NDP have come up with is not good for Alberta. This is a weird insult to Albertans who really only want to go back to work and let the gov’t stay out of their homes and their light bulb choices.

@ Fraser

Yes, I miss the Ralph Klein days. That $400 cheque was nice to get.

It did not take long for Stelmach and Redford to piss away the Alberta advantage Ralph created and Albertans bit the bullet to create.

But even with the corruption in the PC party after Ralph which sent Alberta back into debt, I would rather have the PCs in power than the NDP, if only given the choice of the two.

The NDP is the party that borrows members from other provinces. You can bet the money from this is being split among these corrupt thieves. The self professed wiccan witch and her fellow communists strike again!

This was a dipper patronage plumb for their Ont. HQ green clients – look for kick backs to the federal party from this vendor.

Sheila would be interesting to find out exactly which company or companies had lower bids. Too bad this incompetent bunch wasn’t as obsessed with saving money as they are with saving the world.

Henry, I don’t think you are cynical for thinking that Notley and Wynne are in this racket together. Both with the exact same agenda.

We have got to get both of these evil witches out of office along with the fruit cake now posing as PM.
commented 2017-04-10 19:05:50 -0400
Maybe I’ve just become cynical but if I wouldn’t be remotely surprised if the Ontario company turned out to have connections to Notley or her cabinet or the Alberta NDP. If I were an investigative journalist, I’d get the names of the owners of the Ontario company and see if there are ties to Notley or her gang. Are they relatives? Are they regular donors to the NDP in Ontario, Alberta or federally?
