Protest video UPDATE: Why the Media Party won't condemn Catherine Porter even after "she lied and lied and lied"

Rebel Staff

Today the Toronto Star let me rebutt columnist Catherine Porter's highly fictionalized account of my interaction with her and her daughter at last weekend's climate change rally.

(You can see the complete video of our encounter HERE.)

But some of you might be wondering how they can keep Porter on staff, now that there's proof that she lied.

The answer is that Canada's Media Party aren't just reporters.

They're social justice warriors with double standards.

And they'll side with Porter over someone like me any day, even if I have all the hard evidence in my favour.

I like the way she said you can’t live in Canada without a car, and she lives in Toronto with a good transit system; the TTC, and she can ride her bike. She doesn’t know anything about electric cars or hybrid cars, just has the mental capacity to be a “social activist” and will say anything to get her point of view across. Everything we use comes from oil and is delivered using fossil fuels, including solar panels and bikes manufactured in China under god knows what conditions and shipped thousands of miles and then trucked thousands of miles. She can’t out talk Ezra, he’s a lawyer and very smart, I don’t even give her a “A” for effort…sad attempt at debate.

Thank you, Ezra, for always being a champion for truth.
Of course this woman lies. That’s what the main stream liberal media does because, unfortunately, they believe that the truth isn’t as exciting as their fantastical aggressive agendas. It’s not just the msm, though. It’s just the way that insecure troubled individuals have always conducted themselves.
We have a 3 year old grandson who is going through a phase right now. He is surrounded by love and security every minute of his every day, yet lately, he’s taken to being grumpy and complaining when he wants something. We know this behavior won’t last long because we are teaching him that there’s a better way to get what he wants. The next step will be teaching that what he wants isn’t always what’s best for him or others.
Too many adults have never had anyone care about them enough to lead them properly into their adulthood and they end up believing that lying, cheating and stealing is an appropriate way to achieve their goals. Liberalism and socialism caters to this behavior so that’s where these people gravitate.
It’s so very, very sad, really.

Rebelator2, your absolutely right about the trolls. Personally, I’m so sick of these elietests who walk around trying to tell us how to live our lives but seemingly exempt from those same rules. I think if you could actually get one to be honest it would come out that they are entitled to drive cars it’s just us everyday folk who shouldn’t. Just look at Al Gore, the leader of the climate change religion. Do you see him moving out of his mansions or giving up his personal jets or expensive cars? No, and he’s not going to. Until that day comes I intend to continue to drive my car and live in my large house. Climate change is real, it just doesn’t happen to be caused by humans, it’s caused by the sun. What this is really about is control and money. Control what we drive, control where we go and when and at the end of it all tax the hell out of the middle class in an attempt to redistribute wealth. People really need to look inside what’s really going on. Climate change is the biggest hoax ever purpitrated on the people!

Most agree the easiest and most effective way to deal with mentally unbalanced trolls or trolls for hire is to simply ignore them.
Let them waste their time to no purpose.
As for CP, perhaps there is a simpler explanation for her mostly fact free fable.

I read alot of sites on both sides of the political /left/right spectrum. I see trolls on all that make some pretty dumb comment, trying to sound smart but really show nothing much more then a biased agenda of personal hate with little reason or valued input. We appear to have a pair of them here. They are always blathering, seldom giving any real input to the actual articles and just reinforcing the belief of the low I.Q. of a large portion of the far left.
As far as the original post goes, the Toronto Star and Catherine Porter needed to be called out on this, it becomes a question of slander against Erza. Our trolls say it is a non-issue, but if the roles were reversed you just know what they would be saying about Erza and cheap trap reporting.

Rudden demonstrates his lack of intellect once again . . . ole socialists never go away . . .

GM never sold those electric cars that ole lyin Michael made the movie about. They were leased and when the charging infrastructure company in California and Arizona went broke . . . the future was dim.
Today Tesla cars receive massive govt subsidies, cost 100 large and appeal to only a small segment of the population.
Cheap oil will put them in the same position they were in back in 1915, when the self-starter put them out of business.
commented 2015-07-11 10:52:41 -0400
Actually the other takeaway from the video is that CP isn’t terribly bright. “GM killed the electric car” was fashionable, oh, FORTY YEARS AGO. And she’s dusted off this little nugget. When Ezra brings up Tesla’s massive facility in California (where CP claims electric cars are being squelched), CP just looks ridiculous. And if her daughter was hurt through her perception that Ezra wasn’t being “nice” to her mother, it’s entirely Ms. Porter’s fault. Shame on her for using her daughter as a prop.

Toni Hamilton-Viegut : That’s the hilarious thing about it. It wasn’t even Ezra’s trap…

Easy on the kid…

I am sure that Catherine Porter may print a retraction of her column stating that she remembered the interaction a different way. That being said, I am a person that enjoys my car and the gas that goes in it and I personally could not, in good conscience attend a rally or allow my daughter to carry a sign disputing the very thing I enjoy!!! I think being a hypocrite is a pre-requisite for many journalists, and government officials at every level. And like the government, Catherine Porter clearly has her own agenda.

It’s simply a travesty that Ms. Porter has not been fired for her blatant fabrication of the interview with Mr. Levant. I’m not quite sure what she is worse at: Reporting, Parenting, or being an “Activist”. Knowing that she is being filmed, she isn’t even a decent liar. At least the video was entertaining-it’s rather enjoyable watching that rat & her offspring being trapped in Ezra’s trap.

Canada and the World is in dire need of honest Journalists’!
What ever happened to pride in honest reporting?
The only honest Journalists are independents and Alternate news Reporters’ except for the George Soros’ style indie websites!

Spot on, Charlton! As was everything you wrote about trolls.

Terry, your hatred of all things Ezra is obvious. I mean, it’s really, really obvious. If it is your intention to not show us that you hate Ezra, a lot, then you kinda suck at that. Now, as far as your hate – fuelled thin as air argument is concerned, I like how you claim Ezra’s got credibility problems when he’s calling out a liar! Now, on the one hand, I’m sorta for just letting it go, as you say it’s not a huge story. On the other hand, as a former journalist myself it really frosts my cookies to know that someone gets paid by any media source to break so many ethics at the same time. Ambushing another reporter, not identifying oneself as a reporter also on a story, writing a hack job about another reporter, lying about just about everything, using her kid (way, way uncool) and let’s not forget that it’s a direct attack on Ezra. In a widely read paper. So, all things considered I think Ezra’s completely in the right here, I’m pretty sure I would do exactly the same thing. What would you do Terry? If some reporter lied about everything and wrote a bunch of lies about you in such a medium? Just let it go? Maybe, but I would at least try to spank said reporter in some way. What she did, from a reporter’s POV, was just wrong on so many levels. And yes, if a paper publishes a piece that a reporter was paid to produce, the responsibility rests on the publisher at least as much as on the reporter. It’s kinda how the basic concept of publishing responsibility works. Now, finally, Ezra’s been caught, and made to apologize, for exactly one thing that I know of so far. In this thread I’ve seen mention of at least 2 examples of the paper in question having to do the same thing. Why is it okay for the left-leaning newspaper to lie, and then apologize but somehow still keep it’s reputation but Ezra only has to have it happen once and he’s a damn liar for life? Why is that? No, wait, I really don’t want you to answer that. Not sure I could handle the bias.

Terry Rudden said: Jason : cutting right to the chase:
a) Rick Saluting says: “I am not saying Omar Khadr should get the Order of Canada; though it’s a thought.”
b) Ezra says: "The Toronto Star actually thinks terrorist Omar Khadr should get the Order of Canada. We’re not making this up”.
Come on, guy. Terry. The Star had the choice to publish or not publish said comments. They chose to go ahead. To try and deflect this into something else is deceptive or dishonest.

Reasonable we are not fighting among ourselves but against 2 trolls. We aren’t even attacking opposing views, but rather 2 trolls who attack Ezra. Their goal is to disrupt the threat and others as well. This isn’t about fair debate at all.

The Media in doing the same thing that ‘supply management’ does. Sort of like Maple Syrup in Quebec. Who would have thought that tapping a few trees would bring in worse penalties that dealing DRUGS ? Ezra is a thorn in the side of supply- managed journalism—— He won’t pay you for the ‘Right to Speak’ and you can’t tell him ‘What to say’. Suffer.

What did the Toronto Star do to Rob Ford? The Star’s investigation and reporting was completely accurate – it just took time before Rob Ford admitted that the Star were right after all his lies and denials.

I think what you mean to say is that you love Rob Ford and damn The Toronto Star for bringing him down with facts that can’t be denied. You preferred what the Toronto Sun did – supress everything and pretend that nothing is wrong in the hopes that it will all just go away and that Rob Ford would remain unscathed.

Rob Ford is already breaking the law with the HOV lanes, but he doesn’t care – just watch for the cops as he said.

Terry, the part you can’t seem to grasp is that it really does not matter the “self-absorbed reportage” of Ezra, it is that fact that he caught Catherine Porter in a series of lies that really matters. Ezra’s supposed self-absorption, high ego, or whatever, really is irrelevant to anyone with an intellect. That is why it is irrelevant to the conservatives that post here.

Jack: There’s a certain charming simplicity to minds that equate criticism of shoddy, self-absorbed reportage in one medium with support for stupid stunting on the other side of the ideological fence.

Terry Rudden: “LOL. You’ll notice I also don’t spend a lot of time trying to explain twelve-tone music to deaf people, post-impressionism to the blind, or integrity to followers of Ezra Levant.”

LOL. It might be more useful for you to try explaining “integrity” to Ms. Porter. Though I suspect your idea of integrity is pretty much the same as hers. LOL.

sub journalism is the norm for torstar, torstar owned cp and for $1.1 million per day the cbc.. also, cbc uses our $1.1 million per day to purchase sub journalism from cp.. apparently their own sub journalists are far too busy to concoct their own nonsense. the typical media circle jerk.

Great work Ezra. Catherine Porter should be fired. It is obvious what would have happened if the roles were reversed. The type of people that attends these protests should be talked about also. Mainstream media tries to make them look like average Canadians. Average Canadians pay taxes and don’t smoke pot. I am sure most of these protesters are the opposite.
