Venezuela is on the brink of bankruptcy, starvation and quite possibly, revolution.
Millions marched in the streets this week in the biggest protest and opposition to government anywhere in the world right now.
In 2016 Venezuela’s economy shrank by 18%. Unemployment currently sits at 25% although many speculate it is actually much higher.
Watch as I show you developments this week where we saw 2.5M people protesting in the streets and a response from Maduro who expanded the civilian militia from 100,000 to 400,000 and promised "a gun for every militiamen".
This comes only five years after Venezuela banned private gun ownership.
Also this week, government authorities seized a General Motors plant and it was revealed they gave $500K to President Trump's inauguration all while their oil company has a fleet of oil stained tankers unable to deliver their most important export abroad.
It’s remarkable that at times like this those in the west espousing the virtues of socialism from Bernie Sanders to Naomi Klein, are silent about the dire situation in Venezuela which is yet again, a direct result of failed socialist ideology.
