Victoria, BC hates fossil fuels — so let's cut them off

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Have you ever been to Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia?

If you look in the right places, it’s the prettiest city in Canada.

But that beautiful Victoria of old has changed a bit.

So much of downtown Victoria has become like the infamous East Hastings Street in Vancouver — just a perpetual shantytown — homeless people; drug users; mentally ill; criminals. And the weather is so nice, and the police don’t enforce the law, and social justice warriors love the blight as proof of their tolerance. The city is dangerous now — I was there a few months ago, and it’s starting to look a bit like San Francisco.

But the mayor of Victoria knows the real problem:

The statue of Canada’s founder, Sir John A Macdonald, torn down by politically correct order of the city council. Not one drug user was redeemed by that, not one homeless person housed, but boy, did Victoria show how woke it was.

All of British Columbia has been colonized all over again, not by Brits like Captain Vancouver or Queen Victoria, but iby foreign environmental lobby groups, who have helped install a series of ever more radical politicians:

City of Victoria recommends class-action lawsuit against the oil and gas industry

“Our province is in a climate emergency and response from fossil fuel companies has been inadequate,” Victoria Councillor Ben Isitt said. “The cost of climate change has been overwhelming for local governments in B.C., and taxpayers shouldn’t be the only ones paying for the impacts.”

It wouldn’t surprise me if some woke CEOs actually paid this shake-down money, as a form of greenwashing — doing the oil and gas equivalent of what Gillette did to itself the other day, going public saying it hates itself, and so will you love it now?

But not all of them, especially the ones that aren't based in the West. Gazprom is controlled by Vladimir Putin. Saudi Aramco is controlled by the king of Saudi Arabia. National Iranain Oil Company? Petroelos de Venezuala? These kooks think they’re going to send Victoria money in reparations or something.

I have a better idea:

If B.C.’s political elites really hate oil and gas — then cut them off! TONIGHT I'll explain my plan.

But there's more.

This is from the Victoria Sewage Alliance:

Today, Victoria dumps an average of 82 million litres of raw sewage daily into our world class coastal waters. (...) We ask you to show your support for a sewage treatment system, giving the gift of clean water to our children and our grandchildren.

But suing fossil fuel companies and declaring states of emergency about global warming and the rising tide is so much easier than actually have to solve any problem. And it's a lot more fun, too...

NEXT: Last night, I debunked the Media Party's smear campaign against some high school students who were in Washington, D.C. to attend the March for Life.

Tonight, Pardes Seleh joins me to talk about her rundown on the many journalists and celebrities who are now rushing to delete their tweets about the incident, some of which actually called for violence against these teens and their families.

FINALLY: Your messages to me!

Andrew Stephenson pointing out hypocrisy is not whining. Raw Sewage is far more damaging and toxic than oil. "

Next year Victoria will activate a tertiary treatment facility and will no longer dump sewage.

Perhaps they will still have overflows when it rains, but Edmonton has the same problem.

The hypocrisy in trying to use the sewage issue is that they’re trying to fix the sewage issue.

Could you provide some supporting evidence to the claim that it’s actually more damaging?

By the way, the best hoped for opening day of the sewage plant is December 2020 and given the millions of dollars in cost overruns, that may be “dreaming”…

OK… I’ll bite… What “hypocrisy”?…

Dear Ms. Stephenson… Do the math…. IF the CRD sewage plant does open on schedule, there are still the dozens of other “fuel-based” challenges for Greater Victoria which are decades away from being solved…. Or has Helpless Helps that “magic pixie dust” hidden away someplace?….

Karen… Yes it’s a sad state the position our corrupt politicians have put us in. We need a total cleansing of government from top down on every level

Seldon Eisler,
They tax the crap out of gas so everybody WANTS to bike to work.
To have their bike stolen, and homeless use the lanes nobody can navigate with expensive bikes!

Karen….wow that’s crazy I’d hate to ask what premium is at,a person would probably need a loan to fill up on premo.

I wonder what the right will whine about when the CRD sewage treatment plant opens next year?

People here in Winnipeg complain about the winter all the time. But it is not necessarily a bad thing. The long and cold winters make it impossible for there to be much homless drug users,”
Been to Winnipeg lately? The meth problem is … bad. The worst neighbourhood in Canada shows no signs of improving.

Yeah, a sign from God – or a warning!
Kinda like that big ole crane that ‘fell’ onto the Grand Mosque in Mecca a while back…another sign from God? Another warning?
I wonder what allah or morhammud had to say about it?
commented 2019-01-23 13:12:43 -0500
Dan…. Speaking of locusts did you see the huge swarms of locusts that descended upon Mecca during Haj about a week and half ago. They were reported in the tens of thousands. How fitting

The minions of the far left are modern day locusts. The forces of capitalism create something beautiful, only to have it invaded and destroyed by a swarm of left wing takers.
The Bible lists locusts as one of the ten plagues visited upon Egypt…to force Pharoah to let God’s people go free and free to worship their God…how apt to refer to the left as a plague…of locusts!

As I have stated numerous times previously, there is a vast dichotomy between the Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Victoria corridor, and the rest of BC! Actually there’s an ocean of difference!
My words seem to go unheeded, all of BC regularly gets lumped in with all the Globalists, fascists, degenerates and terrorists – AKA lefties – that plague all large urban centers, but especially the Left Coast.
I guess I can understand now how a conservative living in Ontario/Quebec feels when people like me in the BC interior loudly support putting up a wall on the Ontario/Manitoba border and cutting loose all the losers East of that line…yup, separation!
Instead of separation of the East and the West, we should have an official separation of the left and the right!
As for your idea of cutting off the fossil fuel driver of economies to BC, well there’s merit in that – in spite of the dichotomy illustrated above – and there would be hardship for the interior. Of course rural/bush dwelling citizens are fairly inured to being somewhere between mistreated, abused and forgotten…such is the life of the disenfranchised rural minority.
As for the raw sewage being dumped, as this only occurs around large urban centers, it’s illustrative of the way the left chooses to live – in their own stinky shyte!
Hypocrisy, thy name is lefty progressive!

- I’m all for making everyone who buys into this climate fraud BS to spend 1 week without anything powered by fossil fuels, made by fossil fuels or made from fossil fuels. If they fail, they have to stop the phony virtue signaling. Here’s a partial list to get them started. – https://www.innovativewealth.com/inflation-monitor/what-products-made-from-petroleum-outside-of-gasoline/

- Make threats & call for violence against children – totally meets the community standards of big tech if you’re far left. You don’t have to say much if you’re a conservative to get banned for life. The mainstream media had just finished having the Michael Cohen story blow up in their faces & then they stumbled into this one. So big budgets & large staffs & zero actual fact checking – any blogger working alone from home could have done a better job then them simply by doing some fact checking on their own before running with the story.

Bottom line is its politicians and political ideologies that have severely F-up this country and we can talk all day long and nothing will change Trudeau,Nutley,Horgan,or Weaver’s agenda!! We need action but I think there is going to have to be a lot more hardship before people wanna react.

Oh, you mentioned the Air Port.
Sorry Andy.
In the mean time, we enjoy some of the highest gas prices with a pipeline at our door step thanks to taxes.
Then the Left finding any stupid cause to stop tanker traffic like the resident orcas hearing is affected.
Sorry, that’s not stoping cruise ships or ferries.
And the boats have to be relatively quiet so it doesn’t vibrate apart.
Never mind an Orca is way louder with an actual dialect beyond a constant hum.
The wildlife are smarter than the people out here on average.

Time to hold Randall Garrison, Murray Rankin, Elizabeth May and John Horgan to account.
What do they really have planned for the Island?

commented 2019-01-23 08:26:15 -0500
They just need the money because they obviously can’t budget worth a damn. Nothing to do with Climate Change and even climatologists say that they can’t know how much human activity affects the climate so they’re making judgements not based on facts.

Victoria has always been “hypocrisy personified” and not only for the daily flushing of raw sewage into the Straits of Juan de Fuca… The city is heavily dependant on commuter traffic every day from outlying communities like Sooke, Langford, Collwood and Cobble Hill, and beyond, on Highway 1… And of course the daily crawl in from North Saanich and Sidney… The city also needs tons of fuel every day to serve everything from cruise ships at Ogden Point and the Coast Guard helicopters nearby… Then there’s Base Esquimalt and the Victoria International Airport… Meanwhile, in the face of inevitable growth in recent decades, it has not come to grips with alternatives by letting the old E&N Railway right of way deteriorate, and converting the train tracks into the island’s interior into the fashionable Galloping Goose Trail… Whoppee!… Meanwhile the major contribution to this morass has been Mayor “Helpless” Helps pushing the development of “trendy” bike lanes top further snarl downtown traffic… So it’s “fuel dependant” traffic each and every day, and until that “magical pixie dust” alternative is found, Helpless and her gang are just farting in the wind…
