On Monday, we broadcast a video about the new Holocaust monument in Ottawa. We showed you the bizarre plaque commemorating the Holocaust — that never once mentioned Jews or anti-Semitism.
And neither does the official government website.
That’s really weird.
That video was seen thousands of times, and shared on Facebook and Twitter, and by Tuesday, made its way to Question Period in the House of Commons, where the Conservative MP David Sweet asked the Liberals about this bizarre decision.
WATCH Sweet's question, and the response he got.
Thanks to public pressure from you, our viewers, and a question by an MP, we got it fixed.
But that original wording wasn't an accident — I’m sure ten different people in the government signed off on it.
So while we can celebrate this small victory, remember:
The same people who just wrote the Jews out of the Holocaust are now in charge of banning you from saying anything mean about political Islam.
