UPDATE via Breitbart:
Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia reports that a man identifying himself as Driss Oukabir, the man whose identification Spanish authorities say they found in one of the two vans rented and used in the attack, has walked into a police station claiming his legal documents were stolen.
According to the mayor of Ripoll, the town where the man claiming to be Oukabir entered a police station, the man told police “that, upon seeing his photo in the media, he came to the police station to explain that his documents had been stolen.” The mayor, Jordi Munell, claims that Oukabir is “well known in the community.”
The report claims the mayor believes it is possible that Oukabir’s younger brother, 18-year-old Moussa, stole the documents in question. Moussa Oukabir lives in Barcelona. Driss Oukabir is a French national, according to Vanguardia.
A crowd of people were struck by a white van before gunfire is reported to have broken out at a nearby restaurant.
Two armed men are believed to have stormed Luna de Istanbul restaurant after police said the driver had fled the initial scene.
Local radio said 13 people have died. Police have confirmed at least two fatalities. Dozens of people have also been injured.
Barcelona media is also reporting hostages have been held in the Turkish restaurant.
