VIDEO: Can we rely on wind and solar energy?

Rebel Staff

Is "green" energy, particularly wind and solar energy, the solution to our climate and energy problems?

Or should we be relying on things like natural gas, nuclear energy, and even coal for our energy needs and environmental obligations?

Alex Epstein of the Center for Industrial Progress explains in this new Prager U. video.

Epstein makes "the moral case for fossil fuels (that the Pope needs to hear)" in this TheRebel.media interview with Ezra Levant:

Actually Gerald Butts had his hands all over the Green act and the very first Wind contract went to a Liberal insider whose name I believe is Mike Crawley. It was worth 456 million and quite frankly they didn’t care whether people wanted these things located near them or not. And yes Bravo Zulu the gov’t doesn’t care about what happens after the fact even though these towers are put several feet into the ground and have internal parts which I understand are highly toxic.
I used to work for OPG, nuclear is our main source of Hydro (60%) and the remainder comes from gas plants (remember those Winnie) that were built but of the gov’t wouldn’t want the public to know about that, after all it doesn’t fit their narrative, anyone who is interested should read the 2011 Ontario Auditor General’s report, has some interesting facts in it.
By the way that is the same Gerald Butt that is whispering in our new P.M.’s ear, scary thought eh…mmm__Green Infrastructure…

When the wind blows, the energy can be used, and that decreases the amount of fossil fuel used. That is what the primary savings is, namely an overall reduction in fossil fuel use. The objective is good and the reduction in fossil fuel use is obvious. A big problem is to structure the system in a free and open market world. If one company owned all the resources, the decisions would be much less in conflict.

Wind and solar would work on a smaller scale if every house in every city had it’s roof covered in solar cells and had a small wind turbine, it would need a battery pack to store the energy. All lighting should be converted to LEDs since lighting is a major portion of electricity use, the only time you would be using power from the grid is to run your stove, since most other appliances are more energy efficient than they were years ago. The cost of this would be subsidised by the government and all profits and savings would remain in Canada.

@ Bill Collins commented – Nathan, my bullshit meter just went into the red on your comment.

Bill – you are correct and your response to Nat made me chuckle.

In fact that type of completely unsubstantiated comment is often made by folks – I call them drive by comments – not even worthy of response. If it is substantiated it is made and might be accompanied by unproven stat from some unknown professor or even better – a famous one with a ten figure bank account and an “agenda of fear promotion for personal cash and personal wealth gain”.

However it is usually made by someone who lives on the tenth floor of a chicken coop built for people.

Roads and construction and wood for building and agriculture for food – people always forget they need to eat – and mining for minerals and more…….

Heat and water and sewer and garbage and more

When they are walking face down into their “stupid phone” they forget that even the clothes on their back is created by industry.

In fact Canada has so many trees and so much grass our “so called hurt to the environment” is so tiny and miniscule as to be insignificant.

If one is truly worried, plant more trees.

Cheap effective and animals love them.

It really works.

Nathan, my bullshit meter just went into the red on your comment “don’t be silly. Energy markets are fully deregulated in Ontario. If you’re paying too much, go shopping.” The energy market is so totally controlled by the government, ie paying wind and solar for what they are supposed to produce instead of what they actually produce and paying them first while curbing or totally shutting down cheaper and more reliable generation is a political decision. Further to your statement, the only way to go shopping for more affordable energy prices is to leave the province which has already cost us 300,000 well paying union jobs. Please, in the future, get a clue.

For annual investment of about 1% of annual GDP, we could have a carbon-free economy in 20-30 years.
Tax wasteful burning of fuel, unleash the middle class by reducing taxes on their efforts and innovations.

The Liberal government of Ontario is destroying the economy of Ontario because of their belief in the green ideology.
Communist countries used to provide poverty for the unfortunate masses under their control because they believed in the communist ideology. Kathleen Wynne and the Ontario Liberal Party are destroying the wealth of the province of Ontario. Prepare for a ever decreasing standard of living for all of us except the political elite.

No we cannot.

I run a small MicroFit solar system to offset the power bill at the farm.

Our power bill is about $650 a month.

The solar brings in about 1000 per month. It cost us $85,000 to build.

We receive $0.802 cents for every KwH we produce and send down the grid line.

Thank you tax payers for giving me about a 14% return on my investment.

Wind – only works when the wind blows.

Solar only works when the sun shines.

Unless you spend millions on batteries to store the power which is another environmental disaster in the making.

The best part? Ontario does not need this and actually turns Niagara Falls down or almost completely off to justify producing green power – is not Hydro power green?

Ontario PAYS the US of A to take our excess power.

Today according to:

http://www.ieso.ca/Pages/Power-Data/Supply.aspx

Solar is producing 0.4 of one percent of Ontario power needs. Wind is producing 9% of power needs. While the power produced is green – the environmental disaster while building and then disposing of the expired equipment is a nightmare – but never discussed by anyone and hidden by media. Truck loads of concrete. Miles of wire. Miles of power poles and transmission lines. Disposal of very environmentally unfriendly “things” Killing of thousands of birds – some endangered. Killing of thousands of endangered animals – and when this is presented and it has been many times – the Ontario government over rides the complaints.

To date this year Ontario has PAID the US of A almost a billion dollars to TAKE OUR excess power – yet continues to scam Canadians with wind and solar.

We do not always sell it we often pay to have it taken off the grid.

All information is available if you do your due diligence – I have provided one web site for any one interested – that is a good start for you to see the scam in action.

Yes Canadians – we turn off free hydro power and make expensive power with the liberal government running the program – almost all major wind and solar are owned by foreign companies – the money leaves Canada. Someone is getting rich on this scam and I believe the corruption is making a lot of rich libs somewhere.

WE PAY THE US OF A to take our excess power and send the rest of the cash to foreign countries.

Almost every Canadian does not know this.

Check it out – only if you dare.

The Guy in the Video forgot to mention. If the wind blows to strong, they have to turn the turbines off, or they fry.
Is there any truth to the rumor that Grip Tight Wynne has just purchased an electric car, with a Wind Turbine mounted on the roof?

Love it!! But I’d like to see Brian and Ezra confronting politicians in the scrum. I think it will actually force the issue into the mainstream and ultimately help build the Rebel brand.

Nice facts.

Problem is that asshole financiers and global trouble makers like George Soros pay for protests and anti-fossil fuel lobbying (and a little kickback for Obama) to shut down coal.

And then of course, George Soros buys up all the coal mine companies. Isn’t that neat how that fucker George Soros does it?? You’re a piece of satanic shit George Soros!!!

The other problem are the cash paid/minimum wage paid lemmings hired by George Soros interests like the Tides Foundation drown out rational thought and with their “hyperbole industry” convince the masses that solar/wind is the way.

If you say it over and over again, the truth no longer matters – and the Canadian hatestream media and George Soros and the Tides Foundation and the paid for lemmings/protesters already know this.

We can rely on the rent seeking /crony capitalist friends of malodorous vote whoring pols
making huge piles of money while the gullible fools cheer for “the progress being made
against globull warming” and “all the clean air”.
