VIDEO: Heather MacDonald on "Who killed the liberal arts?"

Rebel Staff

A degree in the humanities used to transmit the knowledge and wisdom imbued in the works of great Western artists, writers, musicians and thinkers like Shakespeare and Mozart.

But today, that same degree stresses Western racism, sexism, imperialism, and other ills and sins that reinforce a sense of victimhood and narcissism.

So, what happened?

Heather MacDonald of the Manhattan Institute explains in this new video from Prager U.

It’s easy to promise the moon, and look like a big shot with taxpayer money!

Jimmy you are in the entertainment industry? I don’t find you entertaining at all bozo!
commented 2015-10-26 23:24:23 -0400
A liberal arts degree is good for one thing to wipe your ass .
commented 2015-10-26 21:00:52 -0400
Trudeau has promised $150 million to support the “entertainment industry”, namely, the CBC; what a joke. Should be able to fund a few more tasteless skits by Marg Delahunty.
commented 2015-10-26 20:45:11 -0400
Art is in the eye of the beholder, and “entertainment” is the same. Personally, with all the leftist interference (political correctness, microaggressions, and the like), the quality of entertainment has diminished dramatically over years and decades past, Jimmy notwithstanding.

You can’t tell me that the Conservatives (who are the ones being attacked for their lack of political correctness and their “racism” and whatever else) are the ones actually killing the “entertainment industry”… the fear of offending is completely from the Leftists. (We “conservatives” don’t give a rat’s ass what the leftists think, and I think that shows, here).

Conservatives killing the “entertainment industry” and “the arts”, my ass.

Conservatives not supporting the “entertainment industry”, now that I can believe. But with the diminished or lack of quality, what’s to support?
commented 2015-10-26 20:00:11 -0400
Yannie comparing Shakespeare to the bunk that lazy elitists push shows me you have no idea what real art is. Shakespeare was a keen and brilliant observer of the human condition and humanity itself. And lots of this money goes out of country , the silver balls here in Edmonton were built by someone from California , the city did not even think of a someone local

Jimmy you lefties have killed personal responsibility and you punish hard work and sacrifice.

If YOUR gender, race, culture, sex or creed is not represented by the liberal arts you study THEN LEARN THEM and CREATE your own to represent what is missing! It’s too bad that most major discoveries were developed by White European/Asian Men but it is not exclusive. Marie Curie, Dian Fossey and Margaret Sanger instantly come to mind as a brilliant women who made significant advancements for humanity but those are just the first to pop into my mind. I never enjoyed the liberal arts and have a science background but I would think that their would be much more diversity available in the liberal arts since women are more likely to better at liberal arts than the sciences which I studied … and enjoyed.

Jimmy Da Silva wrote «Conservatives – killer of culture and the arts.»

The value of an Arts degree has been killed by SJWs, with the abandonment of critical thinking for ideological dogma. Why would I hire anyone who has spend the past four years specializing in whining? Here’s an interesting video on the dogmatic professors who teach the now-required courses on Gender Studies. Pay particular attention to the parts where objective science demonstrates that boys and girls have different preferences and the social “scientists” have nothing but absolute faith that they don’t.

And the Communists, insert their dogma under a course name, and then they leave out the actual course material!

Yes Peter! I would agree. I don’t think I would last that long if I said a that sort of word around her or even thought it.
Well maybe sometimes think it. Hahaha

You are one of the few that see my sick twisted jokes.

But in the same breathe I had to put are respectable Jimmie boy in his place. I see he never answered, but yet again he is on the lying bitch Hillary page, just going crazy.

Charles said, “So I guess, I will go home and tell that woman I am with. That she is a lying bitch and where has she been all these days.”

Might not be good idea … for continued existence sake. ;o)

The comments were made as they were in mockery of Yannie Znayew’s insulting comment posted 4 hours ago.

Thought Alan’s shirt and neon edged hat was a “hoot” :D silly lawyer
commented 2015-10-26 15:25:46 -0400
Not to be insulting but just looking at the sheer numbers of postings on various articles by Jimmy, who believes Jimmy actually works? Show of hands? or Crickets?
commented 2015-10-26 15:18:12 -0400
Also I have a girl friend that works in the same industry and Alberta has lots of movies and sitcoms in the province. Plus they have been run by conservatives for 4 decades plus a conservative federal government for 1 decade. So where is your theory with that? Where is you information on that?
So I guess, I will go home and tell that woman I am with. That she is a lying bitch and where has she been all these days.
commented 2015-10-26 15:17:26 -0400
The arts are not supposed to be institutions within a government, nor funded by the government. Rather, they are to be a part of the way of life of the people at large, relevant because they are birthed from the culture and sustained by the milk with which the culture overflows.
When the government must subsidize art in order for its continued existence, art itself has rejected the culture and become an institution for the people rather than a reflection of the people.
commented 2015-10-26 15:13:48 -0400

I was responding to comments made.
commented 2015-10-26 15:10:26 -0400
Also Jimmie it is very obvious you didn’t watch the video, it does not once mention the conservatives in it. It was mostly for you liberal types.
commented 2015-10-26 15:08:31 -0400

How am I wrong here? I work in the entertainment industry – conservatives are not supportive.
commented 2015-10-26 14:58:14 -0400
Oh Jimmie! Here you go again. On the other post I gave you a complement and even stated thank you for the thought. But now you are back to just bashing conservatives. Wow you are so unbelievable.
commented 2015-10-26 14:53:04 -0400
Hey Peter and Hyacinth, I would 100% agree with both of you all. Us rednecks must stick together, because we back water folk and have on edgeamecation.
There is one thing though, I like being called a red neck, because that means my head is down and I am busy working to provide for my family and government and province.
It is way better than being called a dude, because we all know what a dude ranch is for. Hahaha

I do not think that you should waste your time, concerning your self about what other people read or listen to. Right now, we can all read or listen to whom we like. I wonder if I will be able to say the same thing in the near future, after your Communist, Muslim, Hero, Trudeau, has had chance to spread is evil ideology across the Country?
