The NDP war on Christmas started early this year. They couldn't even wait after American Thanksgiving. For a hundred bucks you can join the NDP in celebrating some unnamed winter mystery holiday.
Here is the invite from the NDP Website:
“Bring your holiday spirit to the Leduc-Beaumont NDP's 2nd Annual Holiday Celebration! The evening will feature a selection of wine, Alberta craft beer, and a silent auction of eclectic items.”
What holiday are they talking about? What kind of holiday parties begin in November and sort of trail off into December? Will there be a holiday tree there? Holiday decorations? Maybe holiday gifts?
Those are Christmas things and removing Christmas from your lexicon is ridiculous.
This is the second annual NDP “holiday celebration” - as in the NDP have been in power for two Christmases and since then, dear sweet baby Jesus is “persona non grata” at the NDP shindigs.
I don't get uptight if political leaders don't recognize every religious holiday for every religion out there. Politicians don't have to send Festivus wishes and donate to the Human Fund to prove to me how tolerant they are of other traditions.
But that’s not how the uber-tolerant NDP roll. Rachel Notley once put on Islam as though it were some sort of costume and made a video in a headscarf to send Eid wishes to the Muslim community.
Don't get me wrong. I’m not expecting Rachel Notley to ride a donkey into Bethlehem or for Shaye Anderson, the NDP MLA from Beaumont, to dress like baby Jesus in swaddling clothes and lay in a manger to prove to me that the NDP understand what Christmas is actually about.
But can the NDP at least acknowledge that Christmas is the holiday they're celebrating with their little hundred bucks per head party?
