War on Halloween: Home Depot pulls “peeping Tom” prop after one woman complains

David MenziesMission Specialist

September wasn't over before the first salvo was fired in the War on Halloween: 2016 Edition. Home Depot pulled a Halloween prop called the "Scary Peeper Creeper" after a woman saw the decoration at a Markham, Ontario store and lodged a complaint.

Apparently, Breanne Hunt-Wells thinks the Scary Peeper Creeper makes light of predatory behaviour against women.

It looks like a goofy Halloween prop to me but in an interview with CBC Radio, Hunt-Wells says there’s nothing funny about the Scary Peeper Creeper, saying:

“I fail to see the humour in it. It makes light of a very serious crime. Voyeurism is a crime in Canada.”

Hunt-Wells is a co-parent (a.k.a teacher) and says she researched voyeurism, noting that it often escalates into sexual assaults, including rape.

Who’d have thunk it? A $29 Halloween prop is somehow linked to rape culture?

Home Depot caved with one complaint from a Nervous Nellie sending the decoration into the graveyard of discontinued merchandise.

Too bad. I wanted to buy a couple of those to upset the sensibilities of scaredy-cat social justice warriors!

But I wonder, has Home Depot thought this through? Just think of all the groups that can now claim offence over various Halloween decorations.

Condemning Halloween for costumes that are linked to cultural appropriation is now passé! It’s time to wage war on props that are somehow seen as being offensive for ... whatever.

Hahaha! Lol-ing so much at the comments in here that my eleven year old is looking at me strangely wondering if I’ve gone mad.

I soooo want a couple of these peepers for all year round digs at the trigglypuffs!

Greig McKinnon

Either that or it’s Kathleen Wynne’s minge. In that case take it down.

Now I will have to search online for one. I want one for my side entry window for all year round, only peering out at people coming to my door.

That’s not a prop, it’s John McCallum, waiting for the liquor store to open.

Thanks Greig, I almost peed my pants when I read this. Good thing I’m at home.

Breanne Hunt-Wells is a retard. If she sees “rape culture” in this then she has the mental problem.
I suppose movies like Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs should be banned too because well the character is just too scary. Opps there goes the horror genre because well a girl always buys it in those movies. Fuck you are stupid Breanne Hunt-Wells.

Can I still hang out my Christmas balls?

Dave, It’s not so much a war on Halloween as this is just a symptom of the on-going war on reason – a politically correct tyranny which proposes to even dictate the fundamental dynamics of supply and demand on the free markets.

After hearing this, I will be buying one of these forbidden arbitrarily-banned items because this is the normal reaction to political interference in the demand curve – black market Halloween gags just as liquor prohibition created bootleggers and organized crime and pot prohibition did the same and as tobacco and gun control is creating the current lucrative black market.

If there is demand, someone will get the supply – banning things makes them even more profitable.

Next thought, co-parents are increasingly banning costumes for Hallowe’en in schools in favour of Orange Day in which the co-children are encouraged to dress in orange. I take offense at having children wearing the orange because it makes light of the horrors wrought by the party whose colour it is.

I fail to see the humour in making light of the destruction caused by the Non-Democratic Party through wearing this colour on Hallowe’en, and feel we should petition all co-parents to stop forcing the wearing of this ghoulish colour of death!!!

Hunt-Wells says…“I fail to see the humour in it."

Is that not the battle cry of the virtue signalling regressively enlightened elites? I find that most of these people educated well beyond their intellectual capacity have no humour, first sign that they have no intelligence.

That old maid should be happy that someone takes an interest in looking at her, even if it is made of plastic. Wouldn’t it be great if we could send this woman and Zoie (the University girl that got freaked out by a Trump hat) to Iran for a while, then not let them back ?

It illustrates the incredible power these people wield in our society. What is the SJW secret?

For non-SJWs, it’s challenging to get a store to resolve a LEGITIMATE complaint (e.g. the thing I bought last week fell apart).

This shows how little remains for the lefties to whine about.

Home Depot – politically correct store.

She has a right to complain but I bet she never complains about islamic child abuse or islamic child rape or islamic female genital mutilation or islamic forcing boys to become Bacha Bazi or islamic beating of wives or islamic demands that Canadians become more islamic..

How typical of a spoiled, entitled, arrogant and smug Canadian female.

Seems their numbers are growing at a fast rate.

I will never lift a finger to help one when the comeuppance comes – and sooner or later it will – it is inevitable.

@dh “war on poverty” “war on drugs” “rape culture” “traumatized” “in the news today capitalists made a lot of money and that’s just not fair” “in the news today somebody said something that has feminist panties in a knot and that better be the end of their career”

By the same logic David, would you see anything wrong with even more graphic and realistic ways to simulate impending doom on a victim inside their home, just as a ‘joke’?
commented 2016-10-02 09:35:45 -0400
I prefer not to shop at SJW stores like Home Depot. I’ll take my business to Lowe’s, thanks.

“War on…?” Really Menzies? As, [a conflict carried on by force of arms, as between nations or between parties within a nation; warfare, as by land, sea, or air]? No, Menzies, it’s one absurd lady complaining. Hardly a “war.” But keep using that hyperbole on your readers. It keeps them livng in fear under their beds!

Another coddled and entitled dingbat! She should be more concerned about the Islamic takeover of our country, at the hands of Junior’s traitorous government of liars, crooks and thieves. If she thinks this prop is scary just wait until more monsters of the evil cult arrive. What these creeps are doing and planning in our country, is what is really scary and terrifying. How will she cope when she’s attacked and raped, and then can’t get the authorities to assist her, or the MSM to report the incident? The prop was meant to be creepy, and it was. She couldn’t just move on though, she had to have her way, and have it removed. We have a society of ninnies who need to seek counseling and leave the normal people, who get the point of the prop alone. And business owners need to grow a pair and stop accommodating these safe space seekers!
