Was Notley really a “fan” of Keystone XL before Trump became President?

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

Finally some good news for the Alberta oil patch. We might see a pipeline built and soon now that Donald Trump is jump starting the long stalled, Obama-blocked, Keystone XL pipeline from Hardisty, Alberta to the Gulf of Mexico.

In response to the news, Premier Rachel Notley said:

“This project is going to create good jobs here in Alberta and that's my focus” and “it's not that we haven't been a fan of the Keystone XL, it's that it hasn't been a priority”.

But is that the truth? Have the NDP really been fans of Keystone XL?

What about Notley’s appointees? What about Rachel Notley herself?

Watch my video to see what Rachel Notley said about Keystone XL in her very first Question Period as premier. She didn’t seem like a fan.

Carbon taxes don’t get pipelines built, conservative administrations do.

@earl Richards…Go to GOOGLE and key in the phrase “Keystone oil transported by rail” and read the many pages of articles on the subject. The ecology cult notion that blocking a pipeline is like playing chess and pegging that oil in place is a “pipe” dream. In fact the rail magnate who benefitted most from Obama’s veto of Keystone was one of his biggest financial supporters. The oil moves anyway…by rail and by truck…both methods with a much higher rate of spill accidents and routed through much more ecologically sensitive areas and towns like Lac Magantic.

Glenn—- You are talking about oil spills and I am talking about the toxic, tar sands spills. Remember the Kalamazoo. There is a big difference between conventional oil and the tar sands.

@earl Richards….look at a map and look up the Straight of Hormuz. Then look at the gauntlet of pirate infested water from there out to the horn of Africa. Not only is that the busiest waterway in the world it costs a fortune in miltary expenditure to fend off the savages. Oh and the Iranian Navy is just spoiling for a fight. Then when you are done that look on GOOGLE earth to see the proximity of oil fields and pipe lines to the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. KM will probably never go through NDP or not. But Keystone will. And political power in Montreal is a VERY fickle and unpredictable thing.

I would rather see crude oil flowing down an open culvert through Canada than to see even one of our troops sent to the sandbox to put up with camel spiders and never ending moslem feuds. We are talking about a place where Heshemites still shoot Bedouins for drinking from their wells.

All these people who are against the Alberta oil sands….do you expect me to believe that if THAT much oil was spilled on the ground by a burst pipeline that there would not be an outcry to clean it up? The Alberta oil industry is cleaning up the biggest oil spill on the planet. “Athabasca” is Cree for “Hungh…water taste like stove oil”

Glenn—- Saudi Arabia does not have waterways, it’s all desert. The pipeline is not a done deal, because on May 9th, British Columbians might vote in the NDP and they will stop the KM Extension.
commented 2017-01-28 17:29:52 -0500
@earl Richards….the pipeline is a done deal. And NONE of the disaster scenarios concern me as much as the blood that will surely be spilled in the sands of the Middle East if we don’t make ourselves energy independant.

I say make the Saudis leave their oil in the sand. Because every pipeline and every waterway their oil travels through is an ever growing graveyard.

Elton & Andy—-The massive Keystone XL pipeline would threaten dozens of rivers with spills. In the Sand Hills region of Nebraska, the soil is sandy and permeable, so a spill would penetrate and sink to the bottom of the Ogallala Aquifer. In some areas of the Sand Hills, the water table is near the surface, so the pipe would actually go through the Aquifer. When TransCanada decided to build a pipeline through the Sand Hills, it was a stupid idea to begin with.

Mark—-To understand the destructiveness of a toxic, tar sands spill from a pipeline, Google and read, “Michigan oil spill effects could be repeated here”, by Michelle Barlond-Smith.

Earl maybe another train wreck could bring you around.Or a oil tanker sinking on the east coast. No more toxic than other oil.
commented 2017-01-27 03:16:26 -0500
Wow Earl Richards!… That’s one scary scenario allright… Millions??… I gather that you watch a lot of them there science fiction movies?… Seriously thought, I would encourage you to do some basic reading up on geology and soil sciences and try to figure out why a pipeline just fifteen feet underground can’t damage a whole aquifer…
commented 2017-01-27 00:54:09 -0500
The aquifer is almost gone anyway. Lots of areas and communities are completely dried up and have been hauling in water for years. Since the forties agriculture has been polluting and draining the aquifer far faster than it can replenish itself and many farms have gone to dryland farming or shut down. The last of it has about 20 years left and will take at least 200 years to replenish itself. One pipeline is the least of their worries.
commented 2017-01-26 20:03:12 -0500
The Keystone XL pipeline has to be stopped, because a toxic, tar sands spill down into the Ogallala Aquifer will poison the drinking water for millions, which is worse then a weapon of mass destruction, and will destroy the agriculture of the Great Plains states.

I think Rachel and Justin just got the memo, there is a new Boss in town, and the Left wing, socialist, progressive Utopia BULLSH*T had better come up with some good answers to the questions about what they have been doing to the people lately?. And the answers better be good, none of the fake news crap.

I really wished Ms. Notley had shown more gratitude toward Pres Trump. This is a BIG deal for AB.

Rachel states…….."it hasn’t been a priority”. That pretty much sums it up.
May 2019 can not come soon enough.

Just to be clear, eh… I’m not a fan of dimpled bums…

Excellent comments from all posters on this subject… Thanks!… The very telling point to all of this is that in the coming days and months it will be to see how the Boy Blunder responds… His dimple bum is now very much hanging in the wind for all to see, and, that being the case, I, quite frankly LOVE IT!…

KELVIN GRABOWSKY said, ‘These asshats need to learn to either lead, follow or just get the hell out of our way.’
Kelvin I for one would much rather them get the hell out of our way.

The US side of the pipeline will be long in the ground before these Canadian jugheads decides whether their asses have been bored or punched. These asshats need to learn to either lead, follow or just get the hell out of our way.

I’d back up any company , group, citizens, or jurisdiction that would stand up and defy these counterfeit bullshit artists.

It’s time to organize militias and protect our sovereignty, rights and freedoms from those that love to thwart progress at every turn.

Bill Elder, well said. The KXL is not yet a done deal if the environmentalists have their way, as they are now demanding more reviews from NEB, but we know Trump is all for it & he won’t be taking any crap from Trudeau if the latter brings that up with him, so Trudeau had better be on his best behaviour & do the right thing or is he going to coward down again to the fact-less enviro manure disturbers.

This is gonna be sweet! Either junior screws over his hard left base and goes full normal/corrupt lib and allows Trump to throw him a bone or gerry butts tells him to find some eco-reason to shitcan the deal. I’m thinking some new, possibly paid-for “prior nations” protest north of the border might still stop it or “respect ing the impacts” on other south of the border “stakeholders”. (Hey, A-Hole! You want to be a “Steak-Holder?” Instead of being on welfare you can eat T-Bones every day by being employed be the petro industry!)
We’ll see what happens. With the dimwitted offspring of a marxist degenerate and a druggy whore being led by a McGuinty alumnus I don’t expect much.
The boy is pretty much a Trifecta of evil people and bad ideas.

It really is amazing how Trudeau, Notely, Freeland and probably a bunch of other two faced jerk, politicians are all NOW supposedly jumping for joy and saying how happy they are Now that the Keystone pipeline has been approved by President Trump.
Two faced, liars all of them and the leader is no other than Justin Trudeau.
Seems to me that Justie is now running scared – f*cking coward.

Notley’s a fan of the Soros – funded anti- Canadian oil networks that’s all we need to know. She also believes in junk climate science and she’s willing to shut down the economy with a massive tax grab on energy use (That’s what a carbon tax is folks, a needless charge on every good and service that uses energy).

Given that abundant cheap energy is the life blood of our economy cutting the abundant supply and inflating the cost of using it seems a little counter productive if you are truly concerned about Alberta.
