The difference between the highly lethal fascist socialism and generally innocuous democratic socialism is that one is fascist, which supports my original point, that it’s not the socialism component that is the problem.

There are those who’s posts I don’t normally read who suggested that the 100 million lives lost in the twentieth century were due to Fascism, not Socialism. This claim is patiently false! Don’t get me wrong, Fascism is every bit as reprehensible as extreme Socialism. They’re both Totalitarian Dictatorships, but their systems of governance are radically different. Spain under Franco and Italy under Mussolini were Fascist Dictatorships. Germany under Hitler was a Socialist Dictatorship, as was the USSR under Stalin and China under Mao, as well as Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, etc. Although Fascism has certainly claimed millions of lives over the years, It’s the Socialist Dictatorships, namely those mentioned above, that claimed 100 million lives in the twentieth century. There’s a big difference between a left-leaning political party in a democratic nation that’s freely elected, and a Socialist form of government. However, there’s always a danger in electing a left-leaning government with socialist tendencies, that the citizenry may relinquish too much power to the government. In relinquishing our personal responsibilities for the managing the chaos of life and trusting that to the government to do that for us, we run the risk of having them impose their values on us, thus losing our individual autonomy. And we’re at George Orwell’s 1984 group-think, where collectivism trumps the individual. In fact, we’re already there under Trudeau. He wants to stifull all conservative diologe.

“She is even too far left for most of the Democrats, so I don’t think she’ll get too far. Its a testament to our education, welfare and immigration systems that she has come this far. "

Ger 70% tax proposal has 45% support among Republicans, and considerably higher among independents and Democrats. That’s why “establishment” Republicans are putting all their effort into discrediting her. The thing with populism is that it’s not necessarily an ideologically consistent, and the MAGA brigade that feels screwed by the corporatists may feel that a punitive tax on them would be suitable retaliation. It’s certainly no more destructive than the tariffs.

" We conservatives are failing the youth of today. "

Frankly, blaming the Mexicans and other anti-social justice behaviour for everything is one of the reasons why they stopped listening.

That should read “100 million ‘LIVES’ in the twentieth century alone” "

That was fascism, not socialism. Properly instituted socialism (such as universal healthcare) probably saves more lives than it costs.

I sometimes see some people here using the term " Cultural Marxism".
So what does that mean?
Well on the street corners of communist countries you see “cultural” soldiers carrying "cultural"Kalashnikov weapons just to make sure you are culturally aware of how great life is.
Marxism doesn’t need eloquent modifiers to soften or obfuscate the horror that it imposes on humanity.

The reason Socialism is so popular among the Youth today is because it isn’t immediately apparent why it’s evil. The Socialist philosophy SOUNDS good. “From each, according to their ability, To each according to their need”…. That SOUNDS terrific! What can be more noble sounding than that? However, what that fails to take into consideration is the capacity of the human heart for malevolence, self-interest and the rationalization of evil to protect self-interest. The inevitable result of the application of the Socialist philosophy has cost the world 100 million live in the twentieth century alone. There’s nothing to choose between alt-right and the alt-left. They’re both unspeakably evil.

The key to stopping socialism is education. This is why we need to talk to these young fools coming out of high schools with all their BS about how great wealth distribution is. We conservatives are failing the youth of today.

Someone really ought to show Milton Friedman’s series Free To Choose on TV again. The first time that was aired, early in the Reagan Era, it was instrumental in helping me understand – just as I was leaving university – that capitalism wasn’t nearly the monstrous system that some of the “activists” at school were painting it to be. That ought to open the eyes of a lot of young “progressives” the way it did me.

The other thing that should happen is all the most fervent socialists should get an all-expense-paid trip to Venezuela for a few weeks to get a direct look at just how dire things have become there. Maybe THAT would open THEIR eyes and make them realize how they are going down the wrong path to achieve anything like the “social justice” they claim to champion. If a trip to Venezuela doesn’t change their minds, then they don’t really care about socialism, they’re really just riding the socialism train as the most convenient way to acquire power.

Obama had a hand in pressuring banks to secure mortgages to everyone under the sun regardless of their ability to carry them , way back when he was a community organizer. He takes no ownership for the crisis that resulted.

“If that’s the case why is the Right so truly deranged about AOC?”

AOC is an out and out communist, but a stupid one, a puppet.
She’s young, photogenic, and can repeat, ‘free’ everything, over and over- and all the takers follow her like the Pied Piper. We’ll tax all the makers 70% until they all quit being makers or leave the country. Not understanding that it still wouldn’t be enough for that much free stuff.
The takers don’t care about reality.
She is even too far left for most of the Democrats, so I don’t think she’ll get too far. Its a testament to our education, welfare and immigration systems that she has come this far.

Stupidity, free stuff, too many migrants too fast and open borders, is a very bad combination for healthy economies or compatible cultural conditions for anyone.
