(WATCH) Ben Shapiro: Christian baker targeted again...for trans cake

Rebel Staff

Ben Shapiro discusses the continued harassment of the local Colorado baker who refuses to create LGBT cakes based on his religious beliefs.

Jim Phillips is an evangelical Christian whose award-winning Masterpiece Cakeshop made the news in 2012 when he refused to design, bake and sell a gay wedding cake. And now, he's facing legal action again.

Further to James Hall’s statement, if he was a Muslim, would he be charged or would he be forced to make this cake?
I understand Glenn Craig’s argument, but bakers of this man’s stature are artists. This is not a cookie cutter item that is mass produced. It is something that the baker creates and is involved with on a creative level, not just a business venture.
It would be the same as an painter or a sculpture.

He’s simply being harassed and targeted.

Jan, that’s a pretty good arguement….How did that go in court?

Hey PROUD DEPLORABLE…until the current generation of young men match the efforts of the feminists….like go to law school and get politically involved….NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE

No crack open those law books….learn how the game is played….and stop whining like a little girl about how unfair it all is

Hey Glenn Craig, your Political Affiliation excuse is bogus, refusing service is exactly what it means regardless of reason. A 9 year old boy was refused service at a bakery because he wanted a cake that supported Trump. You need to read the Charter of Rights, schedule B Part 1 section 2 a, a part of our charter that our ditz of a Prime Minister has violated more than once publicly. If you can bad mouth a feminist why can’t you bad mouth a gay person, it’s because they are now a protected class which is garbage, the same goes for hate crime laws

Proud Deplorable…do you know why I am so glad and thankful that POLITICAL AFFILIATION….is not grounds for unlawfull discrimination?…..it is because of THAT….that I am able to bad mouth feminists….and the disgusting self loathing masochist castratii who sing in their choir to my heart’s content.

Deny me service in their restaurants……..:-)….is that their best shot?……

I am alergic to onions and garlic…..if I see a menu where EVERYTHING contains that…and more often than not….SOY….

They do not need to kick me out….I was leaving anyway…..cooks who put onion and garlic in EVERYTHING…..just don’t know how to cook anyway.

You know what PROUD DEPLORABLE….that just might be a way to send a message to the Trudeau regieme…..let all service providers who intensely dislike Justin Trudeau and his known and self declared entourage deny them service as a way to send them a message…it’s perfectly legal…..it is in the States too BTW…..how come Trump supporters aren’t giving it back in kind?

Hey Glenn Craig, when the Left gets sued for refusing service to Trump supporters, for harassing members of the Trump Administration and driving them out of restaurants, refusing service to law enforcement and when a dress designer refused to design a dress for Melania Trump then get back to me Moron.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

All of the people you mention can and should be sued….except for one pesky little legal detail….POLITICAL AFFILIATION….is not defined in the law as prohibited grounds for discrimination…..now ask yourself…..should it be?

They should go to a Muslim / Islamic baker ……they love LGBTQ !!!!!

Glenn Craig the separation of Church and State was too keep the State from meddling in the Church. You misunderstand it. And secularism is not some default that should control people, the state has no business in deciding such issues. Forced secularism is fascism just the same as forced religion is.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Actually, the separation of church and state was to enable people to overthrow the state without being obliged to overthrow the church along with it. This man may deem himself to be a Christian….but there are many other people who also deem themselves to be Christian who do not agree with his intollerance and would deem him to be a Pharasee and a hypocrite. In either case his bakery is not a religious institution. It is a for profit business and therefore subject to the laws of the state. There is nothing inherently “Christian” in the products he is offering.

If his business were a kosher delicatesen and some customer demanded that they offer fare that was not kosher I would see your point . If this bakery produced communion waffers and some Satanist demanded they be sold to him , again, I would see your point. But even though the Catholic Church views marriage as a sacrament the wedding cake is not trans-substantiated by a priest’s blessing. The wedding dress and the rented tuxedo are not sacred objects per se either and refusing to provide these on the basis of sexual orientation would also contravene a perfectly reasonable law in a secular state and you invoking the Book of Leviticus (I do not consider opinion editorials penned by Saul of Tarsus to be “the word of God” as Saul of Tarsus was not God and apparently he and Simon Peter couldn’t even sit at the same table and have a civil conversation) is no different from an Islamic fundamentalist invoking sharia.

Refusing service on the basis of proscribed discrimination is as facist as boycotting a business because the owner is Jewish. And I would remind you that after Ernst Rohm was assasinated the facists made gays persona non grata just like the Jews.

ANDREW STEPHENSON?? HELLO! You were just saying a business can do what they want, do you feel the same in this case or are you a filthy hypocrite?

So true about these fascist perverts. They’re so intolerant! And they wouldn’t dare do this to Muslim bakers because they hit back.

Glenn, does the secular state have the right to impose its moraiity on the citizens?

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

In order to have a meaningfull “separation of church and state”….yes it does.

commented 2018-12-21 21:13:49 -0500
So everyone for miles around must go to this cake monopoly? Now it is true that if you offer a service to the public you cannot discriminate….or worse still….comply but make it on a fruitcake base…..:-)

So ultimately it IS incumbent on the baker to make a decision to stay in business or not….you just can’t “have your cake and eat it too”……….:-)

A local bed and breakfast faced the same dilema in providing accomodations for gay couples….now a veritable gay Niagra Falls motel was located just minutes away that was literally painted rainbow colours….(the owner even has a license to perform marriages)….

After his run in with the HRC…..he did a cost benefit analysis…and he decided that the asbestos roofing and bedding required to fend off a Sodom and Gommorah type rain of fire and brimstone was not only prohibitively expensive….but illegal under the building code. So he closed.

Folks….I defend freedom of religion…..but you are a citizen of a secular state and your place of business is not a church.
