An honest take on the Gillette ad

Jack BuckbyRebel Contributor

I saw the Gillette ad this morning, and I didn’t initially hate it. OK, so I understand they’ve exaggerated an issue and they’re definitely jumping on the #MeToo movement for progressive points. However, I don’t necessarily object to the message.

It’s a good thing for men to hold each other to account. That’s a good message – but I think the real question is whether we need reminding about it. If this ad was produced based on the presumption that men don’t already do this, then they’re wrong.

Men already hold each other to account, and we’ve been doing it since the playground.

Fyi… In case you haven’t noticed…
I’m not interested in sinking the whole of Proctor and Gamble.
That one arm Gillette can be cut off but if you get rid of Venus and Old Spice, I’m retiring to the woods at that moment.

Dan Mancuso,
Okay! It was just a suggestion.

When I’m scraping bristles off my face the last thing on my mind is the environment!
Besides, my parents grew up in the depression and had a different set of values than those who came along later, which they imparted to us. I’ve been an ‘environmentalist’ since I was a kid, it’s a lifestyle/philosophy of not wasting and reusing that has nothing to do with tree-hugging progressives!
I have a Katana, it is more than sharp enough to shave with, it’s just a little too unwieldy in the bathroom…and I’m butch enough anyway!
There is a difference between guys whose balls disappear – naturally – in a life-threatening situation and those males who never had any balls in the first place, or were emasculated in the robot factories, AKA the public school system.
One last thing; A guy knows when his razor has been used to shave legs and armpits…safety razor or not!

The list of boycotted products just keeps getting longer and longer for me and this is just another one .

I stopped buying gillette and other multi blade razors when I found out how bad they are for your skin, never mind the ridiculous price tag. Switched to old school double edge razor blades and quality shaving cream with a good lather brush a few years back…….gillette can eat a bag of dicks as far as I’m concerned, they have no idea about men or mens care products.
Karen Macleod gave a link to an online store below, if you want a great shave and have blades forever, buy a double edge razor or if you’re brave enough get a straight edge. I bought a 100 pack of blades for $18 a few years ago and I’m only 2/3 of the way through.
These moronic companies that think they are responsible for social views and can sway people is behind dumb, you have a product, sell it and stop virtue signalling to me

I don’t mean one of those single blades you sharpen on a leather strap, I mean one of these guys where you can change the razor.
You shave w one of those and you’re balls have dropped. Not because its like shaving w a katana, its because it just has a very butch image.
Just saying.

Actually Dan Macuso,
Switch over to a single blade for environmental purposes.
Plus, women will NEVER borrow it.

Muta Ween,
Try tweeting them.
Public humiliation. They hate mean tweets. Go for it.

My guess is that the plastic handles on Gillette razors contribute a thousand times more to pollution and the death of the planet than the latest target of the enviro-warriors ,plastic straws.
Let’s start a drive to rid the planet if disposable razors and like Dan Mancuso said, order Harry’s .
Now I tell people just to mind their own business but I add a few expletives to drive the point home.

I can see mourning the loss of the shaving cream though.
Most women don’t use shaving cream bc we aren’t stupid enough to take it into the shower.
May I suggest Old Spice? Way better than Axe if I may say so.
Point being, don’t bother w idiots that talk you down.
It bad enough women do and that caused a multi billion dollar cosmetic industry.
Don’t be a sucker like we are. Know thyself.

Gillette, you know what you can do with your overpriced, crappy blades…and your BS, lefty-progressive virtue signaling!
Besides, since I got fed up with buying razor blades from the store and enduring the constant price increases like a trapped animal, I went over to HARRY’S! Check it out.

Some men shave at night, because they love their women…

I spent twenty minutes on hold to Gillette’s toll free customer service but the queue was apparently too long. I did write a complaint email on their website and received a notification that they will address my concerns .
Corporations should not be carrying the flag for these socialist justice issues that are false narratives .I don’t want to be lectured on my behavior as a male by a bunch of millennials who are so off base with reality.
Our problem is using our voices and feet to walk away from these Corporations that insist on involving themselves with these causes.
I demanded that they remove the commercial and will not be buying their product until they do!!!

There are other ways to get taking men into account that’s bloody on point in a masculine way.
You see a guy being mean to a woman, walk up and punch the guy.
Ta-dah! Great commercial.

Bye Gillette"

Actually, I changed my mind.
I think men should buy Venus Razors. Honestly, you don’t know what you’re missing guys. Smoothest shave you could ask for.
There’s always waxing and Nair. Careful w Nair, chemical burns are possible. You could always bleach your beards too. Eletrolosists if you want it REALLY gone.
Your options are limitless. I like warm wax over cold and definately Venus or plucking.
Enjoy a whole new world.
By Gillette.

In my daughter’s neighbourhood in Calgary, two of her neighbours have had young teenage son’s that have committed suicide. Our education system is mainly to blame, in my opinion. They are constantly attacking and undermining normal development, and shaming these young boys into submission. And now the giant corporations have decided to attack them too.
My daughter also attended a playgroup sponsored by the government, and everything my grandson touched, she was told that he wasn’t allowed to play with. She said that nobody else was targeted like that, because they all had girls. She no longer attends, and takes him to play centers that she pays for, so that he can play in peace, without the nannies interfering and scolding her.

Umm….Jack…..no offense but I think you could use a little more red meat in your diet. Just sayin.

I am going to be totally fair about this too.
I care about a product that’s related to hygeine, not about morality for a product.
Why can’t they sell a razor that can strip the tred off a tire without puncturing it?
Would you sell deodorant attached to body pride or bras associated w free the nip? Or tampons associated w free bleed?
It too far and frankly, I like beards.
I don’t want to matronize men. I want them to be equal to me with regards to respect.

I am so tired of these companies, who are so quick to, jump onto the latest crusade designed to show us how compassionate they are and how much they care.

Let me ask, do any of these corporations actually ever take a position that is not being promoted by the national media? Do any of them ever consider the real damage they are doing when they jump on to these media propped up campaigns designed to alienate and damage 1/2 of the human population.

Did Gillette consider actually pointing out the true inequality of our system against men?

You might say what are you talking about, because the media certainly has not said anything about such a crazy sounding thing?

Well how about the fact that men expected life span (in Canada 2018) is 80 years while females are 84 years. How about that in Canada 94.4% of prison population are males, how about the males drop out rates in school in Canada is 15% while females are 8%. How about the girls are significantly outperforming boys in Canadian schools, or how about that there are more women in college at all levels then there are men.

How about the fact that Suicide rates for men are 300% higher than for women, or that Cancer death rates for men are 163% higher than in women. Or that men die 200% more often from lung cancer than do women. Or that prostate cancer death rates for men are 112% higher than breast cancer death rates in women.

I could go on and on.

Oh wait, what about marriage rates, testosterone and sperm rate declines of the past 30 years or so.

Oh I know why this is…it has to be because of toxic masculinity. That’s it! Must Be.

It could not have anything to do with the alienation of men in western civilization, and the constant raving of political operatives on all media platforms with the message of how toxic men are. A whole group, that they have identified, on the basis of their intrinsic physical characteristics, rather than the content of their individuals characters…..hmmm I wonder what this type of tactic is usually referred to, in any other instance.

I wonder what the media outcry would be if we took any other group with these types of horrible statistics and blamed the group for the problem.

Corporations like Gillette have a huge resource base, and as a result have an incredibly large and influential platform from which to affect our culture. At one time, they were only interested in milking as much money from us as possible, now they have some other agenda, although somehow despite the SJW stance, we all know they only want to milk us for even more money.

Maybe corporations like Gillette should actually look into what the root causes are and try to make an actual difference in real issues, rather than jumping on the media driven band wagon, and helping the media in furthering the message to young boys that they are intrinsically bad.

Maybe telling young men, constantly about how bad they are may be contributing to the horrible state that currently exists.

Or maybe they should just shut up and make soap.

I guess it is their free speech right to spew this kind of damaging nonsense, lucky they are not taking the other side, because if they did, you would find they do not have a free speech right, like so many of us who are opposing the media narrative.

Me, I will also exercise my right (so far) to not purchase any products from such a pompous group of media puppets who are actually biting the hand that feeds them.

They must have a death wish for their company. I hope they lose a lot of business for weighing in on this stupidity.
commented 2019-01-15 12:13:21 -0500
The Gillette ad reminds me of the Ford and McCain’s Fries commercials suggesting what color of person that I should marry. Now I stay away from these Busy-Body products as I will Gillette.
commented 2019-01-15 12:00:25 -0500
You misunderstood the commercial, because you did not put it in the context of anti-male bigotry promoted by feminist and far left hate groups.
commented 2019-01-15 11:51:17 -0500
You need an ad like this featuring the iconic Islamic beard. The commercial should feature these Muslim men raping and beating women and children. THAT’S toxic masculinity.
