Congressman Ted Lieu would regulate speech if not for pesky First Amendment

Kurt SchlichterHost of Take That

Congressman Ted Lieu of California is known for a lot of things - being dumb, being stupid, being a fool - but he really went above and beyond this week when he announced, on CNN, that “I would love to be able to regulate the content of speech. The First Amendment prevents me from doing so and that’s simply a function of the First Amendment.”

Liberals, you're not supposed to actually say what you think!

This is just one of a number of instances where liberal congresspeople have made the terrible mistake of actually telling us what they really think. And what they really think is that the Constitution is an annoying obstacle to their dominance.

What can we do? How about we say whatever we want, all the time!

Ron, perhaps “push” isn’t the best word. Bernier simply stretched the spectrum over so that Scheer-while staying where he was- got moved in perception form right to left. If all you had was The Groper and Singh running one would be considered right of the other. Then if Harper showed up h neither would be right- harper would. It is all very relative to who’s rent at any given time. At least that’s the way the MSM plays it.

Al Peterson…." Not quite, Ron. Bernier is causing Scheer to move to the left to make himself acceptable to the MSM. He will split the left vote since he is just Liberal Lite. "
I have to disagree as Scheer was from the start nearly as Left as Trudeau, Bernier didn’t have to push him that way. Here are 3 reasons:
1.His support of Supply Management, a Leftest Policy.
2. He quickly got rid of Kelly Leach as she is Right on Immigration.
3. He quickly got rid of Brad Trost a Climate Denier, which is a Right policy. Scheer is Left like Trudeau on that subject. (Paris Accord)

We both agree that Scheer is a Lefty, the difference is I think he was that way the night that he became leader.

Thank you, Al and Ron. Scheer is definitely liberal lite. I think our Salvini is Bernier.

“I want to control speech” is the leftist god-complex showing itself.

“Inside every leftist is a tyrant screaming to get out”.

Before Bernier, Scheer was as far right as a party went- not very far but still right of the rest. Now Bernier has moved the markers and Scheer is on the left side of the continuum.

Connie, Al is saying that Bernier is attracting some Liberal and NDP voters along with CPC voters.

How so the leftist vote, Al?
commented 2018-12-16 02:47:30 -0500
Connie, it looks more and more like Bernier could split the vote. The leftists vote.

I love it when the far left brands right wing views Nazism. The morons have no grasp of real history. The Nazi party was far left, as is communism. Ironically they are following the same path and pointing their fingers at us. Which is what happened in the 20th century, resulting in millions of deaths from murder and starvation. Marxist Leninist ideology has been pumped into our youth for years now through our education system. That is the first step to the communist takeover. The next step is destabilization of our society, this doesn’t take that long. You can see quite clearly in the economy of Canada and the failure of the government to support our armed forces, this has happened and is happening right now. To eliminate the free economy and bring in a benevolent dictator…Trudeau? Its sad how historically, the people that help create these socialist dictatorships, the “useful idiots”, never seem to realize they will be victimized at some point as well. Like the global warming imbeciles, its always someone else that should be harshly punished. The high brow elite may still have mansions, fly on jumbo jets and use more power and resources than thousands of their fellow citizens combined. One last thing. There is no doubt anymore, they don’t want to just shut us up, they want to dispose of us. It doesn’t even need to be the rich elite included who want us gone, but everyone on the left wants us to be snuffed out. What the lower class leftist useful idiots don’t understand, is they would be next. When their job is completed, they will be eliminated, one way or another. But everyone on here already realizes how these useful idiots would cheer, if all of us dissenters were put in prison camps for our views alone. That is a harsh and sobering reality. If and when the time comes, stand tall my friends, you are not alone. Don’t let them take your freedom like candy from a baby, make them work for it. Lets use our words, while they can still be heard. We are already on the road to perdition.

Threaten in earnest to wall southern California off with Mexico. Show them blueprints. Send flyers.

Dan Mancuso and Stephen E and all commenters here, so well put. 2nd Amendment protects the 1st so what do you do, the 2nd Amendment’s got to go. Plenty of useful idiots in the US and everywhere else to help with that.

Up here we did things a little differently, I always thought. Prior to Mr. Trudeau, or in between Trudeau Sr. and Trudeau Jr., for the most part Canadian governments respected the will of the people (enough not to sign away our sovereignty to a foreign body of globalists). But traditional values, culture, True North Strong and Free, that’s all in the way now. Exhibit A, France, is a great example of globalism in action. Or the UK. Locked down and muzzled while London crime skyrockets and children arrive in hospitals weekly with stab wounds. Nothing to see here. Don’t say anything, or you will go to jail. The UK where nabbing journalists off the street and throwing them directly into prison sounds perfectly ok. How about Sweden, the poster-child for globalism, looking pretty much lost entirely but there is always hope. For Canada, the true fall nationally was indeed when Stephen Harper lost the last election. I want him back. He knew what was best for Canada and had the strength and knowledge to hold it and increase it. We now have a government that doesn’t want what’s best for Canada.

I don’t believe Andrew Scheer has what it takes to lead Canada back to sanity. He’s easily cowed into line and can be silenced by mere nuance into avoiding contact with actual conservative news. There doesn’t seem to be much of a difference between Scheer and Trudeau. Maxime Bernier, on the other hand, does not appear to be afraid to say what needs to be said. His party is new, ok yes. He could split the vote and we would end up with four more years of treachery. Or he could win. And we could have our country back.

Ted Lieu should have his mouth sewn shut.

Freedom of speech is quickly becoming a memory of the past in Canada.

We now have laws regarding language of pronouns. M-103 becomes law and we will not be allowed to comment upon Islam. Our idiot PM just signed the UN Compact for immigration which includes speech controls and essentially thought control.

Baby Doc Trudeau has made veiled threats against Facebook and Google regarding “fake news”, which seems to mean anything negative of the government. He has essentially bribed the main stream media to give his government positive coverage, otherwise…

The state broadcaster, CBC, is his fan club and mouthpiece with a $1.5 billion annual grant. If you say anything different than the government’s point of view your speech is called “racist”, “bigotry”, or something ending in “phobia”. Be a heckler of the government and the RCMP questions you or strong-arms you. Say something conservative and you are branded “far-right”, “alt-right”, “Nazi”, “suprematist”, or “extreme right” by the government during Question Period and by the media.

Free speech seems to have ended three years ago, right after our last federal election.

What can I say other than Trudeau inherited his mother’s brains and Fidel’s looks and politics. We can’t have free speech under a dictatorship, and our government is pushing for a dictatorship.

I thought real Americans lynched people like Ted Lieu who want to get rid of the 1st Amendment.

Do you have any idea how fucking hard it is to be politically correct as a politician? Dude has been brainwashed. It is BRUTAL being a spokes person and being politically correct. “If I have to be under constant pressure to say the right things, so do you!”. Smh.
commented 2018-12-14 18:45:36 -0500
Say, wasn’t that a great idea backing up the 1st Amendment with the 2nd Amendment? Boy those guys were pretty smart.
