“Stand strong” on the shutdown: What Democrats will try next, and why it won't destroy Trump

Kurt SchlichterHost of Take That

The shutdown of the federal government is now the longest in history. And nobody cares (except maybe a few DC swampdwellers.)

The Democrats are trying to destroy Trump, by making him break his biggest promise to his base: to build a wall at the southern border.

As the shutdown drags on, here's what they're going to use to come at Trump:

First, sob stories as far as the eye can see, about government workers not being paid. But as I say, nobody cares.

Next, they'll try poll results. New polls are supposedly "bad for Trump", but it depends on how you read them — and whether or not you believe polls at all.

Finally, the Democrats will try one last thing. WATCH to see what I think that is, and why that won't work either.

Remember: Many historic battles have been won by the side that was on the very edge of defeat.

I’m hoping the rumours online are true that this is a means for a RIF (Reduction in force) meaning all these SES buerocrats can be FIRED. And Drain The Swamp

Trump has been willing to be flexible and deal, while Chuck n Nancy have been completely intransigent and uncaring with respect to the Angel moms and their own base of Federal employees. Trump has been in Washington ready to do business while Nancy has been on holiday and other Dems have been compassionately soaking up the sun in Puerto Rico. The independents and even those who oppose the wall, want a deal, are now supporting Trump. Chuck n Nancy, on the other hand, have painted themselves into a corner. They face a massive defeat as they must now grant significant concessions and Trump will now keep raising his price until they concede.

The polls are in Trump’s favour and more and more Dems are breaking ranks."

It’s interesting how the only quote cited there was essentially, “the wall isn’t necessarily a bad idea, but Trump’s proposal is unjustified”.

Gotta admit, that one’s pretty thin. May as well just point out that some of them voted to beef up the existing fence twelve years ago as evidence they increasingly support it.

I hope and pray that the Democrats will blink first. Trump and the Republicans ought to make the most of the facts that Democrats are increasing their voter base with criminals and charging the taxpayers to do it.
