Yet still run by the government, no? And, even when contracted, the services are still ultimately paid for by the government, in a state-sanctioned monopoly where nothing is competitive (there is collusion even at the tender level). That’s not capitalism.

As for the benefits of socialism, I’ll just think about how when I moved from Ontario to Saskatchewan about ten years ago, I went from paying 100 dollars a month for my cell phone, to just over half that (thanks to SaskTel), and my car insurance went from 280 dollars a month to 115 (thanks to SGI). Also, no private highways charging up to 57 cents per km to drive on.

As a small market we’re very prone to the formation of oligopolies and subsequent gouging, and that happens time and again (although the US is also prone to oligopolies and gouging, but for different reasons. There, it’s because they don’t’ strongly regulate anti-competitive behaviour)

Andrew Stephenson how are they more Socialist than Canada? They operate their government run services far more efficiently than Canada with less management and Bureaucracy than us. You are WRONG!
And the private sector could build everything much more efficiently and cheaper than the damn government. Everything Ralph Klein privatized in Alberta is better , faster , and cheaper. A private company cleans the provincial roads in Alberta and they do it better than it was ever done under the government and light years better than municipalities do.

Andrew Stephenson socialism is destructive unless it is control;led and in tiny amounts. You do realize what you consider Socialism in this country only exists due to capitalism right? "

Modern capitalism wouldn’t exist without some elements of socialism either. As you note, transportation infrastructure is operated in a socialist manner (with a few exceptions, such as the 407, which is pay-to-use and deliberately uses market pricing to keep traffic flowing). If the private sector had to buid roads, as in the 407, the costs would become unattainable for many operations and individuals.

“Socialism in Canada is making people poor! "

You seem to be falling into the same definition gap. Scandinavia’s way more socialist than Canada is, yet you say it doesn’t exist in the nordic countries but does in Canada – and it’s making people poor here. Canada’s quality of life is very high, and that quality of life is much more evenly distributed than the US.

There has never been a truly socialist country – not even Venezuela or North Korea are socialist, but merely use elements of it to keep the ruling class in power – they maintain the bourgeoisie and proletariat classes (albeit state-sanctioned), the elimination of which were core to Marxist socialism.

’Yeah, and that’s why the people are eating stray dogs, zoo animals, dog and cat food out of cans, and don’t have toilet paper…"
Almost as if they have no money from selling exports, to import the products they need.

“Yet – magically – Middle East countries, who’s only “export is oil” also, are somehow building skyscrapers and stuffing billions into Swiss bank accounts… Once again, Missie Stephenson, your elevator is not going to the top floor…”

Not sure if you’ve ever wondered WHY the Saudis/OPEC are trying to manipulate price of oil back up, but it’s because they can’t afford their current entitlement programs without high oil prices. The ruling-class embezzlement only works because of their autocratic government structure that lets them get away with it.

The OPEC customers also don’t face the sanctions Venezuela does. The US was by far the biggest buyer of Venezuelan oil, and stopped buying it. That’s why there is no money.

It collapsed because the only thing it exports is oil, and the market for that has been awful fir years.”… Yeah, and that’s why the people are eating stray dogs, zoo animals, dog and cat food out of cans, and don’t have toilet paper… Yet – magically – Middle East countries, who’s only “export is oil” also, are somehow building skyscrapers and stuffing billions into Swiss bank accounts… Once again, Missie Stephenson, your elevator is not going to the top floor…

Funny how socialists never seem to want to sweat for others.

Anyone who thinks AOC will practice what she preaches and live like she expects others to is a delusional fool.

Once a socialist is put in charge they become the worst kind of Crony Capitalist when it comes to themselves.

Andrew Scandinavian countries are not as socialist as you seem to think.

Socialism in Canada is making people poor! And why is it socialism is delivered poorly when promised by socialist politicians. In Edmonton for example we pay taxes for services and such , what you would call socialism , but for some reason the socialists poorly deliver the damn socialism they speak of. Our streets have been a skating rink for over 2 weeks now, barely any cleaning and barely any sand has been put on the damn roads while photo radar and other cash cows are operating like usual.

Socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried or is in the process of failing, but the socialists living in the Western democratic countries built upon capitalism will never learn from the example of others in the world where it has failed. Socialists are idiots. "

Part of the problem here is that “socialism” has been used to condemn everything even slightly left of what some very right wing commenters find comfortable. It’s hard to condemn something if you don’t know what you’re condemning, other than generic epithet motivated purely by partisanship. The NGD isn’t going to turn the US into Venezuela, for example. Canada’s considered dangerously socialist among certain circles.

Venezuela didn’t even collapse because of “socialism”. It collapsed because the only thing it exports is oil, and the market for that has been awful fir years.

All developed economies are at least somewhat socialist, and somewhat capitalist. There are no purely socialist countries, and no purely capitalist ones. The NGD is heavily influenced by capitalistic principles and wouldn’tt even out of line for say a Scandinavian country, none of which are failing.

It sounds to me like the West is not only suffering from the Islamic Invasion…but we’re literally paying for it too…and more and more!
Carbon Taxes?!
Yeah right.
What kind of retard still buys into Man Made Global Warming, today?
The shill’s greenie tax is a disguise for Jizya, more likely…it takes excitable retards like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and fiends to sell it to the other retards…and there’s enough of them to be very ‘useful idiots’ to the Globalists!
