If you’ve been following my work on the Gilets Jaunes, you’ll know that this ‘yellow vest’ protest is about much more than the carbon tax. This is a grassroots movement of people from across the political spectrum, joining together to protest against Macron’s elitist policies and high taxes.
One thing I noticed during the protests in Paris – which you can see for yourself at RebelFrance.com – is how rough the police were with protesters.
Orders came from the very top that the protesters should be swiftly and severely dealt with, but now, I think the police are growing tired.
Unions are calling for police officers across France to join the Gilets Jaunes with their own ‘blue vest’ movement, if demands are not met.
The police want thousands of hours of unpaid overtime paid back to officers by Macron’s government – and if they don’t do it, then the only people Macron will have left to patrol his streets will be the armed forces.
