WATCH: Brian Lilley takes on Trudeau's Environment Minister

Brian LilleyArchive

When we say we ask the tough questions that no one else will, we mean it. On Wednesday night the Liberals announced new rules for approving major projects such as pipelines.

In addition to adding new factors that must be considered such as the greenhouse gas emissions created by the project, the new process will also see power taken away from the National Energy Board and given to cabinet.

The whole process looks like something designed to stop pipelines that would get oil from Alberta and Saskatchewan, to market. That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone paying attention.

While the Liberals insist they want to get Canada's natural resources to market the fact is they have not supported pipeline projects that would accomplish that. Then consider who some of the top advisors to this government are.

Gerald Butts is Prime Minister Trudeau's senior advisor and former head of the Canadian division of the World Wildlife Fund. Butts is on the record as saying Canada should be moving to a "zero carbon" economy and that we don't need different pipeline routes, we need a different economy - one without oil.

Butts is also signatory, along with Marlo Raynolds, of a document calling for a moratorium on "tar sands" development and the halt of infrastructure that would support that industry.

Raynolds is the chief of staff to Trudeau's minister of the environment Catherine McKenna.

With the government bashing oil, the natural resource sector, pipelines and without much support in Alberta or Saskatchewan can they be trusted to do what is best? Are they getting advice from Butts and Raynolds on moving Canada to a "zero carbon" economy?

Watch the video as I ask McKenna about what kind of advice she is getting and whether Canadians in the oil patch have a reason to worry.

Yesterday on the Newstalk 650 Saskatoon website I made the following post. “It is troubling that a Government elected by Eastern Canadians are making decisions on how Western Canadians extract their resources”. To my surprise that post was denied. How can you present positions from the Right if the media sensors you? This is not my Canada anymore where only one side is allowed to be heard.

She does what all Liberals do best! She points the fickle finger of blame at the “previous” government! She has no argument other than that!

Why wasn’t she asked these simple questions: are modern pipelines the safest means for transporting products across the country? Does the government reap more taxes/fees by transporting product in other ways compared to pipelines? Have you spoken with the people of Lac Megantic if they feel a pipeline would be safer than rail transport of product through/near their town?

“the previous government didn’t do that”

That says it all right there. Blame.

Lying Spin filled Bitch! The trust you will get from Canadians are from only the ones you pay off and the ones who are brainwashed.

Colin Gartner posted, “Tories didn’t do enough to counter the dishonest narrative from the left on this particular file.”
Or any other, for that matter. The Liberals are still bashing, and its important we call them out everytime. The voting public has been brainwashed. we have to push back. They have to know that not all Canadians will fall for their deception.

Angry Conservatives is right, and we have to give the left reason to give us more press coverage. If they are actually writing articles in Macleans about the dissatisfaction, then they know its not going to be an ignorable fraction of the population.

All this is is stalling tactics and using fraud UN/ IPCC ( East Anglia University numbers ) as an excuse to De-industrialize the country, the problem is these environmentalists’ are paid so well and so of course they have been brainwashed into believing that what they are doing is proper, histort is going to prove that these people are wrong – dead wrong however, the unemployed workers in Alberta and the spin off effect this Red Tape Regulation is making with associated industries across the country are causing layoffs and economic stress across Canada! Safe , sensible, research and caution is good for the environment however, we have gone obsessively over that level of reason to a level of Regulations that can and are being used as a weapon to prevent and stop any industry that provides for human beings at all – bias ideologies are in play here and unless one politician can reach a heroic move over another political group everyday quality and ease of life is overlooked and usually not provided for the very citizens who have voted in these Totalitarian Authoritarian politicians who instead of serving us are dictating and lording over our lives! It is well time, past the time in fact where “We the People”, need to send a clear and concise message to all of these Politicians that we are no longer going to tolerate their Bullying!

Conclusiin;
This is the 21st Century under Liberal Marxism.
Recommendation;
Pipeline Companies to halt spending on pipelines and use rails to transport oil to coastal ports. In the meantime don’t negotiate one more minute until the government gets serious about its people and economy.

So her argument is just the previous government. I have not seen any politician using their predecessors as an excuse. Before they were talking about green economy and now they are back peddling and saying ‘oh, maybe we do need our natural resources but we just have to do it more responsibly unlike are predecessors’. What a joke.

In another vein the Swedes are getting rid of up to 80,000 Muslims so maybe Trudeau could get them for Canada. He is probably that stupid.LOL
commented 2016-01-28 12:22:46 -0500
I will be surprised if even ONE pipeline gets approval . . . of course oil trains don’t have any emissions.

Yesterday after Question Period I watched this B**ch extol the greatness of Maurice Strong and came close to throwing up. Maurice Strong is the Canadian socialist who was behind the disastrous Ontariowe green plan, who stole multimillions of dollars from the Iraq oil for food plan, the Rio conference in 1992, set up the IPCC scam of global warming as well as the idea of a worldwide socialist government called Agenda 21. Thank God he died a short time ago. Read the book by Tim Ball (The Deliberate Corruption of Climate Science) and it may open up your eyes about the most expensive scam ever perpetrated on humanity.

What a load of horse pucky. Typical dishonest Liberal strategy of blaming the previous government, that people did not have trust in the environmental review process under the administration of Stephen Harper. How do you square that statement with the approval process of Northern Gateway taking four years of review, where every anti-oil group had an opportunity to have their say and, at the end of the process, the pipeline was approved with 209 conditions attached. 209! That doesn’t sound like a government hell bent on building pipelines, environment be damned.

But I’ll hand it to the dippers and the Liberals. They convinced the Canadian sheeple that the Tories had gutted environmental regulations. In politics, perception is reality, and the Tories didn’t do enough to counter the dishonest narrative from the left on this particular file.
commented 2016-01-28 12:15:29 -0500
lying liberal says what?
If, they are so ‘concerned’ about the environmentally responsible development, If, they are so ‘concerned’ about environmentally responsible resource usage, If, they are so ‘concerned’ about thousands of unemployed western Canadians They WHY don’t these liberals put forward a COMPREHENSIVE plan and list of REQUIREMENTS for the the implementation of Canadian resources to eliminate foreign sources of energy?
These liberals have no plan, have no desire to make a plan, have no desire to consider any plan put forward by the energy industry.
These liberals DO NOT CARE about western Canada/Canadians being destroyed by their IDEOLOGY. That is the point of their IDEOLOGY and agenda
commented 2016-01-28 12:03:46 -0500
they never have a list of requirements for a ‘safe’ pipeline yet they make it about the environment. they could say," if you do this , this, and this, we’ll okay it". you never hear that because they have no plan whatsoever for Canada. they have an ideology for Canada.
kinda like the Nazis…

Mckenna has no environmental experience, she is a human rights lawyer.

The Liberals are going to make so much red tape that it will be impossible to build anything. Then they can claim it’s not their fault so many are unemployed, it’s because the companies can’t meet the rules. Just watch. Just look at the condescending look on her face. What a bitch…
commented 2016-01-28 11:58:15 -0500
She is an insult to the intelligence of Canadians. It is so blatantly obvious these people don’t even believe what comes out of their own mouths. How does she think we will believe that any projects will go through, she knows the whole process is designed to shut down everything. Pathetic. Pathological liars is right.

She looks the opposite of sunny to me, surly is more like it.

The problem is you can’t please 100% of the people 100% of the time. The northern gateway and kindermorgan pipelines aren’t built yet and those only one province over. How are you going to get everyone to agree all the way across Canada for Energy East?

“green infrastructure”…the key to their whole so called energy policy ..it’s lib/dipper speak for abandon oil and gas for renewables…This is a policy that destroyed Spain (25% unemployment) and Ontario (300k job losses and shutdowns)

Theses assessments are going to be dragged out through government bureaucracy for decades.

That is what they want, to shut down Canada’s oil industry through these delays, disguised as ‘building the economy from the heart out’ when they have absolutely no intention of building any new pipelines.

And why would they, Prime Minister Selfies’ love for Muslims out ways his loves for Alberta, so he supports the buying of Muslim Sharia oil form the Middle East, because he and Butts Hate Alberta Oil.

cold, condescending, fumbles the company line and has to correct, blank stare of a trapped animal, preachy, and righteous. that’s how you spot a liberal. they always have their head up their ass and are complaining about the smell.
commented 2016-01-28 11:29:00 -0500
What a load of crap from Catherine McKenna. Canada already has the most stringent environmental assessments for the extraction of natural resources. This is ideological and she knows it, but she is a typical Lieberal.
