WATCH: In defense of “racist” jokes

Lauren SouthernArchive

This week the media has been all over a story about an allegedly "racist" party at Queen's University.

Every year students at Queen's hold a "country themed" party and people show up wearing exaggerated cultural costumes.

It is hardly the awful racist party the media is making it out to be. But even if some offensive jokes were told, how bad is that, really?

A joke is just a joke. Everyone of all skin colours makes them and enjoys them.

Unless you want the things you're joking about to come to fruition, ultimately these jokes do no harm. In fact, they do the opposite and bring joy into people's lives.

Jokes are meant to be offensive, whether they're racist, sexist, homophobic or personally offensive to you!

It's just a joke, and the MSM need to lighten up a little.

I love it when white people are offended by Russell Peters.

Especially in Canada, since the Trump election, the word KIKE has come back into currency. For decades it was seen as rude, and then politically incorrect, and then most young Canadians had no idea what it meant.

Thanks to Trump’s election the word has returned. It has been spray-painted broad on house and synagogue walls in Ottawa and Toronto.

Not just University students, but the general public are now permitted to use racist terms. KIKE is a derogatory word for all Jews.

A friend of mine recently borrowed a costume of mine to wear at a seniors event she was working at. Everyone was asked to wear something representing Britain. I guess I should have told her to piss off you racist cow instead of lending her a British bobby uniform.

Andre L. you are right, like the climate alarmist the SJW’s are there just to scrape off of the gravy train of money surrounding climate and political correctness. I’ll find a social cause or invent one and create a job for me defending that cause.

I see what you’re saying Lauren, but there are ways to have certain kind of jokes without going too far and while the Queen frat boys clearly didn’t mean anything malicious in their intentions, it was still in poor taste.

Sounds like Yim has not been getting any Yang.

Lauren, you are so brave to take that stand. Someone had to do it, and I so agree with you. When the SJW’s start to swarm and descend, I am on your side as I am sure many others are, too.

Daryl, I’m just having a laugh. I’m sure Lauren is too.

Are you being dick-head or what?!?! Lauren is a real conservative DOLL you can only wish to be with – and she is real and honest – something many could only wish to understand.

The Irish!! short, brawling drunks!!! – it is usually the sentiment of a politically-correct Liberal – I am glad to give them an outlet in an otherwise verboten territory. They won’t joke about anyone else, because they actually do believe they are superior – if they believed it was a level playing field – why would they care?

Lauren, or should I say “Lawrence”. You’re a gender changing, trashy white c**t. How dare you defend off-colour humour and cultural appropriation. You sit there in your tank top with your beautiful blonde locks draped over your chest and tell us we have no sense of humour. I’m aghast.
And your gender change has made many a man gay. Does that make you happy? Your demeaning of heterosexuality in that way is DISGUSTING.
Also, your in-depth reporting and journalistic integrity is shaming the main stream media. Do you take pleasure in demeaning the likes of news idols like Craig Oliver? Or Don Lemon? Cruel bit*h.
Speaking of humour. Maybe you should go on a show like Seth Meyers, Colbert, or some other right-thinking comic talk show and let them have at you. I know you won’t because they won’t invite you cuz you don’t think like them. Ha! And you’re white.
I can’t wait until you make available your bobble head in the Rebel store so I can buy one and “bobble” you! Would that make you laugh? Getting bobbled over and over and over again?
I hope you almost drowned on the Rebel cruise when that big wave swamped you when you were sitting on that rock in the bay, topless, with your glistening blonde hair draped over your voluptuous breasts in the beating sun…er, um, gotta go….

Lauren, you do not understand it yet………………. the SJW will complain about everything because they hope one day to be appointed to one of the many “Human Rights Commission”. Good money, entitlements and a job for life. The press, (small “p” please) will take up the SJW because they have something to print without doing much work. Numbskulls feeding on morons.
Your comments were so true and honest Lauren. Keep up the good work.

Why don’t these offended social justice warriors that are drowning in political correctness take in some of the stand up comedy shows. I have seen late at night on TV many different black comedians do stand up comedy and every second word starts with “N”. And then there is the Hispanic comedians like George Lopez who makes fun of his own kind, and just like the black comedians he also relies heavily on the stereotyping of people in his own community. I hear absolutely no barking from any of the offended left wing social justice warriors in reference to those well known comedians with their racially charged performances. Make no mistake, there will always be those that look hard and will find racism wherever it doesn’t exist just to keep us in line. In today’s world if you don’t worship political correctness, you must be a racist, if you’re having fun you must be doing something offensive, and if you disagree with the left you must be either a racist or a misogynist. I remember when I was a kid, a Hispanic comedian named Bill Dana did an act making fun of his own, he was funny, he was enjoyed by many including those in the Hispanic community, he was on shows like Ed Sullivan. One day he came on, said he wasn’t going to do ethnic humor any longer, because he didn’t want to insult his own community, and his career died. Something like that proves ethnic humor is accepted and people find it to be funny because it’s okay to laugh at ourselves. Within our western culture we don’t take ourselves too seriously where humor about one another becomes taboo.

When I was young, I worked with white, black, brown, olive skinned people. Ethnic jokes flew left and right but guys learned to take it. As a sensitive individual, I was very uncomfortable with it and I learned not to take myself so seriously. They were having fun and I wasn’t going to spoil it.

I have commented on this subject so many times in recent years that I’m almost reluctant to repeat myself, but OK, one more time. Humour is an invention that probably dates back to cavemen sitting around the fire after a communal mastadon roast, joking about their differences. Throughout tens of millennia of human history, this was considered perfectly normal and inoffensive right into the 1960s, as anyone can see from tapes of the TV comedians of the time.
This seemed to change almost overnight with the emergence of the Black Death of Political Correctness in the 1980s. Right from the earliest stage of progression, this hideous virus destroys the afflictee’s natural ability to sense the absence of malice, and before long the sense of humour is completely neutered. It’s all downhill from there, as we can see from the daily news reports on the antics of today’s dead-from-the-neck-up social justice crusaders.
It must be awful, and although I am not religious, I thank God for my natural immunity to this ghastly, horrible disease. Truly, it is a fate worse than death.

Cards against humanity is amazing, especially the group I sometimes play it with considering some of the ridiculous cards they have made.

Nothing is more dour and humorless than SJWs. Thanks Lauren for a great post!

There will come a time when we can look back and laugh at all these wanna-be social engineers (and their names) and their pathetic place in history.
commented 2016-11-25 13:50:43 -0500
“Social justice” was originally a Jesuit term used to address the disparity in polity inequity in post agrarian Europe(mercantile control of governing bodies and rural marginalization. Modern Marxists have hijacked the term to envoke Marxist egalitarianism where no inequitis exist – essentially redistributing inequity.

Under such anti-reason premises it is no surprise that neo-marxist witch hunters see demons in every shadow and nook.

Lorne. I’m sure you’ve been the recipient of a few dumb blonde jokes, right? Did you go into full trigger mode?
