Harold Hoff, I have heard similar stories from my American friends; Obamacare is bankrupting many working families.

I have a brother living in N.Y. State since the 1990s. His family with 3 children was covered under a “Silver” plan (there are differing levels of plans one can buy). Being self-employed, HE paid those premiums, which were then $11K per year. On the introduction of Obama Care, his premiums immediately rose to $15K per year. I asked WHY that would be? In short, the government mandated coverage for all those who couldn’t afford a plan. Sounds good so far … But here’s the crux: The Government didn’t give the insurers the sufficient funds to cover the cost of those covered for “free”. What this did was to force insurers to make up the shortfall by sufficiently raising premiums on those who could pay. Yes, there’s much more to this complex tangle, but that is one underlying factor I would never have understood except that my family has lived it.
