The NDP are claiming they just didn’t know there was a clause in Alberta's electricity retailer contracts that allow them to dump contracts if the government makes changes to legislation that renders those contracts unprofitable.
These contracts, called Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), have been part of the electricity landscape in Alberta for 16 years.
Deputy Premier, Sarah Hoffman, has called the regulation that allows the PPAs to be dumped “secret”. But was it really?
Watch my video to see just a few of the many times Rachel Notley and her cabinet were warned about the problem with the PPAs.
