WATCH: UBC Free Speech Club holds men’s rights and issues awareness event

Rebel Staff

The UBC free speech club staged a public event on campus. You may recall this is the same group that proudly donned Make America Great Again and Make Canada Great Again hats to provoke conversations about the importance of freedom of expression on campus.

At Simon Fraser University, there is a student group known as Advocacy for Men and Boys. As the name suggests they focus on men’s and boy’s issues which have been ignored or dismissed in this recent wave of new age feminism.

Students at UBC attempted to start a similar advocacy group and despite having female and even transgender students supporting them, their application was rejected.

The UBC free speech club decided to stand up for this abuse of free speech and held a men’s rights and issues awareness event.

Watch as I speak with some of the organizers about their goals for the event.

These guys are obviously for freedom of speech, but what about the rest of the easily triggered university population? To out, I also spoke with some students who were passing by to get their thoughts on the issue.

The most surprising thing about the whole event was the complete lack of feminists trying to shut it down or claim the male symbol was a trigger.

Despite chatter on the ‘UBC Needs Feminism’ facebook group, nothing happened.

This gives me hope that at least at UBC, students are starting to realize that school is for the discussion of ideas and learning – not safe spaces and trigger warnings.

There are no absolutes, my opinion could be the same as someone else, or it could be the complete opposite. The conversation itself should be what brings about common sense about what is best for all.

The conversation itself is what is being lost.

This group should tear a page out of the lefty handbook and strategically name the group… include words like justice, democracy, peace, equality, etc…. then discuss whatever topics they want to after the group is approved.

I hope that movement grows in universities, to be a counter to the usual PC crap. Also it’s time the left’s male bashing was countered, strongly. I’m hopeful. Not all millennials are brain dead.

Its a shame that any campus needs this, but UBC can be proud of the example its setting. Even Santa must be proud of you.

Looks like the campus kegger club – at least it’s a start for Millennials getting their scrotes back from the misandry cults.

What we see now are the results of the fruits created from the seeds planted by Car Marx. We have an educational system that is Marxist to the core.

It is refreshing to see some young people breaking away from what has become the norm.

Unfortunately we now have Islam amongst us, Islam and Marxism go well together.

Cdn. Mongrel: I agree.
It is good, though, to see these young men are not trying to be radical in their approach and the issues they are addressing. They are showing intelligence and maturity; so far, at least. Let’s hope they continue.
As for the feminists, maybe because it is an intelligent approach taken by these men, the fems don’t know how to react!! Stunned by intelligence and rational minds.

I cannot believe that there has to be a free speech club in a university. University clubs are supposed to form from the right to free speech. That a free speech club is now radical speaks to the shallowness of the neo-liberal education system. Thank heavens these young radicals exist, but for how long before campus shuts down the free speech club as being anti-democratic?

There is still some sanity and hope for us, with groups like this countering the Marxist indoctrination in our universities, and their attempts to silence us.

Good for these guys! All the best to them and their Club for Free Speech.
