What’s behind Governor General’s “impolitic” foray into partisan politics?

Brian LilleyArchive

I’ve met Governor General David Johnson a few times and he’s always seemed like a pleasant, well educated man so it was strange to see him wander into divisive partisan politics in an interview with Peter Mansbridge recently.

His foray into sharing his opinions on issues of the niqab and Syrian refugees, wasn’t without a fair bit of prodding from Justin’s good friend at the CBC.

It would be interesting to know how Mansbridge divined this “discomfort” he sensed the Governor General felt over those issues coming up in the election.

Especially since Canadians showed through opinion polls that most were not in favour of the niqab at citizenship ceremonies or desirous of a sudden massive influx of Syrian refugees.

The Queen doesn’t comment on politics in Britain and neither should Johnson in his role as the Queen’s representative here in Canada.

It’s not for the Governor General to lecture Canadians on how they should feel on issues like this and I would think a man like David Johnson knows better than to step out into the realm of partisan politics.

Which also makes me wonder why he’s cozying up to young Trudeau.

The Governor General is simply trying to preserve his job under a Liebrano regime. Doubt it will work. The Liebranos consider themselves royalty starting with Trudope. If they do not eliminate the position entirely, one can be assured it will be occupied by lieberals!

The Governor General needs to step down.

To people like QI,

There must be a reason that requires you to hide behind a moniker such as “QI”.
You are not afraid of expressing an opinion but you don’t have the cajones to let yourself be identified.
Grow some.
This reminds me of accusations by persons unknown during the Nazi and Stalinist reigns which that resulted in so many people being tortured and killed for no other reason than being denounced by someone lurking in the shadows.
Stay under your rock . . . the less we see or hear of you, the better.

QI……As Stephan Molineaux would say….It’s not like we wanted to fuck you and we are sick and tired of the forces of political correction fucking us .

Tom, one aspect of human decency is not resorting to childish name calling in a dialogue.

Brian great comments, but I don’t think he is a smart man based on that video.

The Governor General was commenting on human decency, not politics.

I agree 100% with Yvette. I can’t stand that this dipshit Trudeau thinks he speaks for me. He is an empty headed idiot an there is nothing he ever says that makes sense. He sounds like a teen who thinks he knows everything. Leaders should have some level of humility and he is pure 100% arrogance.

I only watched a few min of Trudeau’s swearing in & the GG gave me the impression that he was extremely happy Trudeau was the PM, he was grinning constantly. I for one am so sick & tired of hearing the same words repeated over & over by the likes of Trudeau, Johnston, McCallum, Mulcaire, etc, etc, etc that " we are a multicultural country……we are tolerant….we do the right thing……we, we, we …..on & on & on. Everytime these politicians speak for sure we’re going to hear one of those phrases & I’m sick of it. They do not speak for me, especially Trudeau who’s always referring to “Canadians” like we all agree with him when in fact it’s just the opposite.

The man is simply in self defence of career mode….he knows that he can easily be replaced by someone who’s only credentials are that they were male bashing cunts at the CBC….many of his predecessors were,

“The Queen doesn’t comment on politics in Britain and neither should Johnson in his role as the Queen’s representative here in Canada.”
The Queen doesn’t just refuse to comment where politics are involved, she stays as far away it as she can. That’s a fundamental part of her job as a constitutional monarch. When they found the remains of Richard III, British politicians went through a huge debate over whether the king’s remains should be reburied near the place where he died, or in York where he was born and raised. The Queen refused to take a side, even though the King had been dead for 528 years.
Johnson’s job is to represent the Queen in Canada. In other words, he speaks for her. I hope Liz discretely calls him up for a chat and asks him to explain himself. And when he’s finished, I hope she rips him a new one just like her mother did to Harry when he was caught partying in a Nazi shirt.

It is all about politics.

The Governor General is forbidden to express any political opinion at all. Mansbridge, who would look better on a cold slab in the Morgue, knows this.

It would not surprise me to see Canada breaking all ties with the UK, in the near future. Give it a few months.

Beware the Ides of March Justos Trudatos.
