What’s the truth behind Toronto Star’s “Islamic State” to “Daesh” name change?

Brian LilleyArchive

The Toronto "Red" Star is showing their true colours when it comes to terrorism and will no longer allow the names ISIS, ISL or Islamic State to be used in their publications.

From now on the Star, and I assume their many media affiliates, will call the world’s most barbarous terrorist group Daesh. Why?

The long answer is convoluted nonsense which The Star explained in a story that some poor journalist had to write because her bosses made her.

It includes the claim that they’re doing this because calling ISIS “Daesh” is an insult to them. If we believe their stated motivations, this means Michael Cooke and company down at One Yonge Street in Toronto are brave for boldly insulting the terrorist scum.

Insulting people that likely won’t read it, sounds like a stretch and I’m not buying it.

The short answer is they’re snivelling cowards driven by political correctness and a false sense of superiority.

This name change will soon be taken up by the Trudeau government since their official paper of record has told them what to do. I reject it because I believe in plain language and believe in taking someone at their word when they tell you who they are.

ISIS, particularly ISIL, are names that in English tell us what these guys claim to be - the new caliphate. Their name tells us they want most of the Middle East and parts of North Africa and tells us why. It tells us they want to impose their brand of Islam on us.

They are committing these barbaric acts as soldiers of Allah.

What the Toronto Star, John Kerry and other English speaking politicians that call them Daesh are doing is trying to hide the truth.

I understand wanting to talk down and belittle the enemy but we also need to be clear about who the enemy is and by changing their name, the Star isn’t really trying to mock ISIS, they’re trying to hide the truth.

Shame on them.

Daesh is in fact the correct name for them. Isis is the name of a Goddess who has been revered for thousands of years. If you can’t or won’t wrap your head around Daesh, ISIL is better, but please respect the name of Isis, and also…Daesh is more accurate. This militant lunatic fringe group WAS created by the US and Israel, so anything either of those countries governments say about Daesh must be understood through that reality.

I thought the word ‘Daesh’, translated into ‘murdering, cowering bigots’.
ISIS is it then!

If you think that’s the real news, you dumb. The real news is YouTube, Breitbart, and the Rebel.

Your news is filtered to control stupid people and make them feel safe

Average dumbdumbs won’t associate daesh with Islam/Muslims and by extension this name change protects the liberal agenda. Mystery solved
commented 2016-03-08 18:04:43 -0500
Just Muslim rapists and killers of women and children! I associate that with both names.

“…now go and get your shine box.”
Isn’t that a major put-down and call-out line from Scorsese’s “Good Fellas”, directed at the Joe Pesci character, in a bar, from another character who got his head caved in with a pistol butt for saying it?
I love it…

almost the same as old man bush calling saddam hussein…..sad am in the 91 war… apparently pronouncing it sad am means shoeshine boy.. now go and get your shine box.

The use by The Star of the term “Daesh” is just another way to hide the true goals of ISIL from the low information voters who elected JT and his ilk. Maybe this is an attempt to make sure they are not the next Charlie Hebdo. Pure yellow journalism!

To me it has always been ISIS, but ISIL, seems more appropriate due to the expanding caliphate and theirndetermination to regain the lost regions of the Levant.
If using the term Daesh is an attempt to eliminate all reference to Islam then I say its really a bit late for that. They will always be the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. Run by crazy ‘orthodox’ Muslims from all over the world, who follow the words of the most recent writings in the Koran the only way they were meant to be taken. Literally. No good butchering terrorists.

Came here to say that you’re a fucking idiot, I don’t know who or what the Toronto Star is, some newspaper I assume, but your reasoning that using the name that lends them the legitimacy they crave is the right and only way is fucking laughable, which makes you a fucking joke.
commented 2016-03-08 12:21:14 -0500
Daesh and ISIS are interchangeable. Now ISIS is preferred, but the Islamtic State hates the word DAESH, this because it doesn’t involve the name Islamtic State. So in some ways it works in our benefit calling them DAESH. But the Toronto Star is still a rag paper.

What more needs to be said about the Media Party…

Dr. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who holds a doctorate in Islamic studies, calls his organization the ISLAMIC STATE. Isn’t it rich that Michael Cooke, who likely has little knowledge of Islam, tries to tell us that he knows better than Baghdadi what his caliphate should be called. But no, politically correct Cooke caved into Hamas sponsored CAIR-CAN terrorist support group, which has been renamed NCCI (National Council of Canadian Muslims).

We will never see the offices of the TO Star bombed by Islamic terrorists for truthfully confronting Islam with its many warts – mealy mouthed editorial dhimmitude is the reason.

Both of these guys came from the shallow end of the gene pool. Just because you have money doesn’t mean you have a brain. Junior is fine example of this, and as is his twin B.O. And both are traitors to their countries, and humanity! And both will pay for their evil ways on judgment day! I’m going to bring pop corn and enjoy the show.

When Obama starts using the word Daesh then Trudeau will start using Daesh.
These two are just like Chester and Spike.

Daesh equals BS. Our war will be with AM, Aggressive Muslims. When the time is right they will all become aggressive, even an old Lady can throw a jar of acid in your face.

ISIS, DAESH, ISIL are all Muslim killers as will be the rest of Trudeau’s friends , once he has delivered enough of them to Canadistan.

These people have been brainwashed for generations, it is in there blood. They must kill all Christians and Jews plus any other none Muslim, for this is what Muhammad told them to do.

Our Glorious Idiot Trudeau is in the process of enabling them to do just that. He is a traitor to humanity.

If we do not fight back, this will be the beginning of the end, Jihad.

Remember, every Muslim you see on the street, is honor bound to slit your throat, when the time is right.

I learned more about what Levant means in this one video, than all the rest of what the mainstream media ever said. Great video, Brian.

Torstar is shit.

Torstar has their quarterly firings as they keep losing money and their advertisers walk away.

Credit to Torstar for continuing in their “media party” role and economic partnership of islamic terrorism.

How about change this rag’s name to the Toronto Allah Star? Sound good

Brian Smith – the purpose is to print and distribute propaganda. They won’t publish in Arabic, because they are still spreading their lies about the slammers to those who speak English. I think Islam is publishing their paper now.

I’ve got to make sure I never purchase or read another copy of the Toronto Star again, it is small but it is the only way I have to strike back at them – so I’ll do what I can!
commented 2016-03-07 17:41:18 -0500
Well it wasn’t that long ago when ISIS wasn’t a well known word so we won’t be confused for very long when the newspaper that nobody reads gets cute with term Daesh.
Perhaps the Star should print their paper entirely in Arabic and see if it saves their declining readership. Or they could try journalism, that used to work.

Sorry Brian, but you completely missed the REAL reason for the Star and Crescent’s sleight of name. The reason is plain and simple – our country has already been taken over and is being run by powerful Islamic interests. In this case, the name change was dictated by Canada’s answer to CAIR-HAMAS in the US. Sit back and watch as this group proceeds to dictate more changes to the Canadian way of life. Details:

A rose by any other name is stil a rose, so Islamic lunatics are still Islamic lunatics no matter what club they belong to. Roses need good fertilizers and pig manure is reputedly a very good fertilizer, we should send as much as we can to their home countries.

Have the two Muslim holidays (E I D) as national holidays in Canada—-our so called prime minister—- yesterday 1223 pm .

If you want to really insult them, call them what they really are ‘Pigs’. And we know they hate that word.

This is the name that is being used in France! I wouldn’t be caught dead reading that rag paper.

Now that the Islamic State has expanded throughout northern Africa, calling it the “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria” or “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant” is increasingly silly. But leftist rags can’t cell it its proper name, the “Islamic State” because it might uncomfortably suggest the name of the particular religion of which it seeks to implement the literal word, so they are left scrambling for some other subterfuge term.
