The “white privilege” nonsense touched Parliament Hill recently in a Twitterverse exchange between Conservative MP Maxine Bernier and Liberal MP Celina Caesar-Chavannes.
They got into a tiff on Twitter over taxpayer money in the federal budget earmarked for a national anti-racism plan to collect better data on race, gender and inclusion in Canada.
Debate decorum was thrown overboard when Caesar-Chavannes told Bernier:
“Please check your privilege and be quiet.”
Caesar-Chavannes is a black female of the “victim class”, whereas Bernier is a white male of a “privileged” race and gender. And because it’s 2018, honkies like Bernier need to know their role and shut their mouths.
Judgment isn’t made on the merit of the message but rather, the race of the messenger.
And in this new world order ruled by identity politics, telling a white man to shut up in order to silence debate and invalidate his valid points is A-OK!
