I’ve been paying close attention to the anti-oil protest encampment on Burnaby Mountain, British Columbia.
It’s called Camp Cloud and it’s anything but light and fluffy. It’s dirty and crazy and has been the flash point for crimes including breaching a court order and resisting arrest leading to 175 arrests so far.
The actions of this mixed bag of nuts, coupled with an absence of leadership from Trudeau and Notley, have played a huge role in plunging Confederation into a constitutional crisis.
I disagree with their goals and with their long distance relationship with soap, but I have to admit these kooks and criminals are pretty effective.
And they’re getting bolder.
Recently, they threatened a Global News crew, calling the reporters racist and demanding they stop filming the illegal campsite, despite it being on public land.
But Global’s reportage on the ugly reality of Camp Cloud is two months too late. Fort McMurray based oil sands activist Robbie Picard was there weeks ago showing the world the unsanitary conditions these earth defenders were contentedly squatting in.
Joining me tonight, fresh off yet another trip into the belly of the beast to tell us about his mini protest at David Suzuki’s office, is Robbie Picard, from Oil Sands Strong.
