Why Millennials should embrace tradition

Lauren SouthernArchive

Millennials are being guided to a life of absolute sexual and moral freedom by cultural influences like Miley Cyrus, and online think pieces on Vice.

What they don't know is that this life of total degeneracy is not all its cracked up to be.

In fact the research shows it's quite the opposite...

I can’t STAND all the ridiculous sound effects and images flying around in Rebel videos now. This is a big problem for me. Time to sign up for the new CRTV and watch that instead.

@jimmy and Jay….children arive at their own conclusions…are either of you in any way like your grandparents?

Lauren and many others like her are living proof that the media and education system will fail to bring Marxism to fruition…and your children will be assimilated into the capitalist system….resistance is futile…..:-)

And we will train them to be janissaries who utterly despise you…..MUHUHAHAHAHAH!!! MUHUHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Deborah Graupner,

That’s interesting coming from you.

I think it’s my duty as a parent to inform them of logic and science and in addition to the man living in the sky and fairy tales like you tell your children. If through being properly informed in all regards, they still want to believe in a God and The Bible, then that’s fine – but fortunately they are too smart for that.

“… to have had knowledge of a woman before the twentieth year they (the Germans) reckon among the most disgraceful acts" — Julius Caesar, the Gallic Wars (1st century B.C.)

Our post-Industrial ancestors live lives that afford them muchless margin of error than our own today; where we are free to believe and engage in all kinds of nonsense, even to the point of death (eg. overdose), and walk away from it without much consequence. The notion that they were benighted and superstitious, simply doesn’t hold water.

Personally, I tend to distinguish happiness from contentment. Happiness I attribute to the emotions. And emotions are fickle. They come and they go, as certainly as fair or foul weather. One cannot always be “happy” anymore than the weather can always be fair. Such is nature. Contentedness on the other hand … one can be in a world of shit, surrounded by misery, and know in one’s heart that, given the hand dealt, there is no place they’d rather be.

“This is the service a vassal owes his Lord:
To suffer hardships, endure great heat and cold,
And in battle to lose both hair and hide.
In his Lord’s service a man must suffer pain,
Bitterest cold and burning heat endure;
He must be willing to lose his flesh and blood.”

“Confused” in a word, is what ails all liberals.
commented 2016-11-29 10:43:01 -0500
Jay – you are such a liberal simpleton. As parents, we have a duty to tell our children the truth, and to protect them from demonic liars and monsters. And that includes the current governments!

“O blind your eyes and break your heart and hack your hand away,
And lose your love and shave your head; but do not go to stay
At the little place in What’sitsname where folks are rich and clever;
The golden and the goodly house, where things grow worse for ever;
There are things you need not know of, though you live and die in vain,
There are souls more sick of pleasure than you are sick of pain;
There is a game of April Fool that’s played behind its door,
Where the fool remains for ever and the April comes no more,
Where the splendour of the daylight grows drearier than the dark,
And life droops like a vulture that once was such a lark:
And that is the Blue Devil that once was the Blue Bird;
For the Devil is a gentleman, and doesn’t keep his word.”

Mark, Jay has shown himself to be the master of the non-sequitur.

jay kelly , you are a complete idiotic moron , would you like to meet to discuss it .
commented 2016-11-29 02:39:28 -0500
Jay Kelly. You’re comment is a perfect example of how infuriatingly obtuse and foreign to reason the knee-jerk left has become. How can you conflate the case Lauren Southen makes for a return to the hallmarks of civil virtue with racism and hate? You’re doing some creative math there — tradition = racism + hate, but if tagging an overused and hackneyed label feeds the illusion of your own moral superiority then it absolves you from actually doing the hard work of engaging in a real debate. I don’t know about you, but as a parent of a young child myself, I don’t want her growing up in the relativistic mess that those of your ilk have created.

I know it sounds silly to respond to an item by Lauren Southern.

But as Canadian parents, who have young children, we have a responsibility to say no to hate, no to racism, and no to Lauren Southern.

Anti-tradition ideas have been around since baby-boomers took centre stage, but few young people challenged them the way you just did Lauren.

The white picket fence mentality – which is perfectly fine, was also seen a negative by young people in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s – it’s not some new thing that Millennials came up with to mock.

I realize that you are only 21 years old and haven’t been on this Earth very long, so you get a pass on this.
commented 2016-11-28 21:28:00 -0500
In a generational obsession to “special” and “different” Millennials have become conventional conformists in this pursuit where traditionalists swim out of the mainstream. The problem in choosing a life direction and why so many people, not just millennials, are so unhappy/unfulfilled is as, Lauren has alluded to, people have adopted narrow political ideologies which fail to give meaning to life, just spurious vindication for choice- instead of studying and adopting a philosophy, which seeks to aid the search for truth and happiness.
commented 2016-11-28 21:15:20 -0500
I think classic education would be wasted on Millennials, The depth of character/intellect is not there.

“Tradition” for Millennials is Redbull,twitter and Michael Jackson,, anyone who would place any social/cultural/traditional value in such shallow introversive modality is incapable of understanding cultural tradition.

WOW Lauren!

This, right here, is why I wish I were 23 again! Good to know women like you still exist! No wait, you’re a man now, aren’t you? Never mind!

Good job Rebel. Keep fighting the good fight!

Vice is the website that tried to suppress the vote on election day with false narrative that Clinton was winning.

The problem with Millennial, and Gen Xers and some Boomers is the embrace of “personal truth”. Truth is what we “feel” it is. So what may be true to Obama, or true to me, might not be truth to Trudeau. The most recent example is from a friend on facebook who says because the US defined what Fidel was, we can’t trust that definition, so Trudeau’s view is just as acceptable. Basically any “facts” on Fidel are nullified by her bigotry against the US.
