Wildrose Leader Brian Jean takes a chainsaw to government perks

Rebel Staff

Wildrose Leader Brian Jean has taken a chainsaw to a symbolic government credit card, vowing to cut MLA perks if he becomes premier.

Jean says Alberta MLA allowances for travel and accommodations are way too rich and out of step relative to what other politicians in other provinces get.

He points to the $2000.00 a month perk for accommodations and specific abuses of travel allowances as proof reform is way overdue.

After he cut the credit card, Jean said, "that, my friends is exactly what's going to happen the more Wildrose MLAs you elect in this election, the better chances you have of having lower taxes and getting rid of the PC entitlements, perks and pay that are so expensive to you when you're working hard in Alberta."

Asked whether cutting perks will make much of a difference to the size of the ballooning debt, Jean said fiscal prudence needs to begin at the top and should include politicians.

While the commentator obviously does not know his tools (not a handyman, I guess), I certainly agree with the symbology of Mr Jean’s actions! Here’s hoping for a WR majority, and fiscal promises kept!

(personally, I would have called it a reciprocating saw, but whatever. It cuts.)

Obviously, Marc Patrone hasn’t done a whole lot of logging. He certainly doesn’t know what a chain saw looks like.

That is not a Chainsaw! It is a Cutoff Saw!
