York U. strike: CUPE holdouts keep some classrooms closed

Rebel Staff

It's back to school for some York University students today -- but not all of them, after two CUPE units rejected the university's offer.

Emily Pratt spoke to some students on campus.

Some feel uncomfortable crossing the remaining picket lines, while others are worried about the possibility that if and when classes resume, they will stretch into the summer.

University officials are hoping to resolve these outstanding issues so that all classes can resume on Monday, March 16.

Great job Emily! If only the union was convinced enough in their strike that they would have been willing to defend it by answering some questions. The issues can’t be very important to them.

I’m glad when I attended university, we had no TAs. Why are students not upset with students teaching students with the high cost of universities?

Unions don’t make things better, look at TTC! They are just lazy people who want to do whatever they want, and it’s almost impossible for the employer to fire them.

There are now 25 “right to work” states – Wisconsin and Michigan are the latest.

Michigan, the car manufacturing capital of the world first had to collapse.

That twit at Queen’s park – yes, we mean you wynne, hasn’t got a clue, so expect the worst to happen before this gets fixed.

Only the lazy of the lazy need CUPE. Fire all of them and hire people that want to work.

If I’m paying for an education at York, I’m wanting a refund right about now.
